I always carry my own pillow just because......But, the kids and DH said their's were fine.

We just got back from our first trip to CBR. It is a lovely, quiet resort and we enjoyed it very much. I decided not to make any room requests and just get what we get. We ended up in Jamaica building 45! Could not have asked for a better location! We were only had to walk over the bridge/island to the pool. The bridge was 30 seconds from our room. LOVED that. It was also only a 1 or 2 minute walk to the bus stop. We were often the first pick up/drop off, but sometimes the buses would come in the main enterance and that was a long wait to get off. We had a corner room and it was so nice. Only complaint was a giant roach I found very early in the morning on our 2nd day :headache: in the bathroom. We are now deciding whether we want to buy DVC, but I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The main pool big/indoor slide went down for refurb about halfway through our trip. Not sure how long that will be down. My kids still had fun with the other one but it was a little disappointing since that is the main reason I chose this resort! But other than that everything was great!

I cant wait to go back and read we are venturing away from POP next August and trying out carribean Beach and we're really excited !!!:thumbsup2

For someone making their first-ever trip, I would recommend they read Birnbaum's "official" guide first. It's nice and colorful, with great pictures and is a quick read with the very basic info. Then, move on to the "Unoffical Guide" or Passporters for more detail. And of course, lots of time spent here on the DIS.

Agree with this post - highly recommend Birnbaum's, but the pocket guide version. It has all of the info you need on the parks and attractions and is easy to bring with you into the parks in addition to easy to get through. The thing it doesnt have is restaurant recs, but you're making most of those choices in advance of being in the parks and can get that info elsewhere.

I'm sure this has been answered a bunch of times but, are there connecting rooms at CBR ? I'm looking for 3. Taking my kids and grandkids. This is going to be a lot of fun.

So glad I found this thread! We are just beginning to plan a CBR trip in Nov/Dec 2011. There will be three of us-my husband and my sister, who will be 21. My husband and I are complete Disney nuts and my younger sister has always been interested but hasn't been since the family trip we took when she was 7-it'll be her first time back and she is SOOO excited. She is a huge Pirates of the Caribbean fan (and a huge Johnny Depp fan....actually not sure which she loves more :lmao:)! and we hope to stay in the Pirates rooms. I've mostly camped at Fort Wilderness before now, although this November my husband and I will be staying at the Poly for the first time. I can't wait to go back and read through the thread and find what I'm sure are tons of great tips and info. Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more! :earsboy:

I am wondering where the King Bed Rooms are at CBR. I'm hoping to plan a trip for November. It's just DH, myself, and our baby, so we don't need or want 2 beds in the room. However, we can't book both a preferred location and a king bed. If we weren't traveling with an infant, I wouldn't have an issue with a long walk, or utilizing the the internal bus, but he makes things a little more complicated.

Are there any King Beds in the preferred section that I could request? Otherwise, where would the best place to request be?

Hey Becca!

There are king rooms in every section of the resort (except Trinidad South-POTC rooms). So you could book preferred and make a king bed your only request. Or you could book a king room and request to be in Jamaica 45, Aruba 51, or Martinique 22 (the closest non preferred rooms to everything).

I wouldn't worry too much about the walks. They are way over exaggerated! The furthest rooms out are the pirate rooms and you won't be booking one of those. And we walked from that section to OPR in just 7 minutes. So wherever you are, you should be closer than that!

There are rooms that connect, but that would be a request, not a guarantee.

A friend of mine just got back from CBR and said midway thru their week the main slide was closed for rehab. Does anyone have any info on that or know how long such refurbs usually last? We are going in 2 weeks and my girls are so pumped for the slide, I'll have to warn them ahead if it will be closed :(

Anybody stayed in the Pirate Theme rooms. We booked them for next year and wondering if it is too far from everything. Any feedback would be greatly appreciate it.
