Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

How many of you are there? Port Orleans will allow 5 plus one under 3.

You probably won't find many dis'ers that will tell you its okay to go against Disney regulations/rules. Occupancy at CBR is max of 4 plus one child under 3
I'm sure some of this is due to fire regulations too.

Plus if you do not have everyones names on the reservation you could not all magical express, do any extra magic hours, not have room keys for everyone.
Thanks for the advice. We changed our reservations to Port Orleans Riverside.

Um, excuse me, but our conversation started as a Caribbean Beach Resort question. Sorry for the inconvenience.

We have had a standard location both times we have stayed at CBR. Both times it was under a 5 minutes walk to OPR. We wouldn't ever pay for a preferred room. We walked from the farthest out village to OPR just out of curiosity and it only took us 7 minutes, walking at a leisurely pace with 2 kids.

:goodvibes

I can back this up. Also, some parts of Barbados are very close. I like Barbados proximity, and we weren't even in the closest part.

djfan88-where in barbados were you? we requested jamaica 45 as my dd looked at photos and loves jamaica. im looking at barbados 13, parking lot side. it seems much better as it is so close to the bus stop. i could easily get the internal shuttle to the main bldg. wondering if i would be better off there.

Sorry so late getting back to you. We were in building 15. I could look out and see the bus stop. Plus the pool was at the other end of it, and the laundry was a quick walk back and forth. (That's at the pool). Walk to OPR was pleasant and not huge. I've also stayed in Aruba in 56 and it was a much longer walk to OPR and quiet pool.

I am considering Barbados as well. Has anyone stayed here and if so how was the location? I would love to see some recent photos of these rooms if anyone has those as well.

Thanks. :goodvibes

Personally, I will request it again. The quiet pool, laundry, etc., were great. We were close to bus stop. It's not the first stop however. The walk to OPR is a very nice walk, watching the sun go up and down in all the right spots. I like walking though. I'm the one who's up at 6 taking a morning walk to get the coffee's to bring back. Even strolling all the way around for fun on the way back. But my 10 and 7 yr. old had no prob. to the OPR pool even in last June's record heat. Here you go:

DJFan 88, thanks so much for the pics. I'll be checking in Thursday night and these pictures really got me excited. Home, can't wait to be home again!

Just 20 more days :banana::banana::banana: I cant wait:woohoo:

just 21 more days and will be stepping foot for the very first time at CBR:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

See BOTH of you there!!! We're there in just 24 days.... :)

I called yesterday to add our room request to our reservation. I asked for first floor, in Martinique or Barbados (as close to OPR as possible) - the CM just INSISTED that Martinique was all preferred room, and there was no way in heck I would ever get a room there b/c I did not pay for preferred. :confused3 I politely insisted she still add it to the ressie.... saying "oh who knows, maybe we'll get some extra pixie dust" She said she would... but I'll call back next week to make sure it's on there. Was all of Martinique at one time preferred? Just wondering... I know in any industry not everyone is trained/knowledgeable 100%, so it's all good. :)

TIA!
Laura

DJFAN88,
thanks for responding to my post and thanks for the barbados pictures. i really appreciate your input on this. barbados looks so beautiful. think we would be better off in barbados due to being so close to a pool, laundry facility, and the bus stop. my daughter loves the jamica section but it seems to me that every area looks about the same just different colors. i will add barbados to my request too. thanks again.

Thanks for the pictures. I am getting excited about booking CBR. We stayed at POR one time and we ended up being around the corner from a quite pool and laundry. The kids really loved having a pool around the corner from our room.

Thanks again.

We will be at CBR in Jul and we have three preferred rooms booked. We are a grand gathering and I hope that this means we will get rooms close togther. With that being said we really do need two of the three rooms adjoining as we are planning to have the teenage boys in one of our rooms and want a connecting room with them. When should I contact Disney to request adjoining rooms for at least two of the rooms, I don't suppose three rooms can be adjoining? Should I also request that the three rooms be located together.

Thanks

You don't want adjoining rooms, you want connecting rooms. Disney will not guarantee them. You should have them note it in your reservations with Grand Gatherings.

They will try with a gg but no guarantees that you will get connecting rooms.

That's the part I loved too. The convenience. My kids were in that pool everyday for an afternoon swim. We went during that super heat last June and found it was just the trick. We did schlep it to the OPR pool about 3 times, but they actually liked the quiet pool better. Each day, we would let them decide which one to go to. This one was really not that crowded at all, but of course, that's all depending on bookings, I suppose. It was a crowded time when we went though, I thought. When it was laundry, I could just be doing it while we were there. As I've previously stated, the walk was a good one. The only draw back here was the fact that you were not the first bus stop, so you still sometimes had to go all the way around. However, sometimes it just left from there. The problem could be with getting a seat if it's real packed. However, we went during a super busy time and I've also been at the Aruba stop in the past and had easy bussing. (The stop before). I think some of that depends on when you go. My kids are also easy to deal with, boys 10 and 7. As was previously asked before about taking the shuttle to OPR, I found it was easier to just walk it. To me the walk was beautiful and quick enough.
To all you above who are going soon - have a great trip!!!

-I would call Disney and have them note in the reservation:
CONNECTING rooms (not adjoining) connecting rooms have the door.
-I would have them link the reservations together by having them put a "travel with" note. such as traveling with Mr. & Mrs John Smith, booking #1234567
-I would request booking #1 & booking #2 for connecting rooms. Booking #3 to be adjoining to booking #1&2.
