Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

My husband and I just got back from CBR yesterday and it will be our last. We normally stay at Pop and decided that since it was our honeymoon we would upgrade to a moderate resort. I used online check in. It took forever to check in! There was one person working the online check in which is fine however there were more working the normal check in line with less people in it. We were in Martinique building 21. We were given a ground floor room which was great. The only thing was that the room was terriable. The lights were dim and only worked a few bulbs at a time. When we walked in the room smelled musty. You could tell the room had only been half cleaned becuase we were missing towels. I always clean the room myself when we check into any hotel. I use anti bacterial wipes on every surface so I knew that it was surface clean. The showers have 2 corner shelves. The bottom corner shelf was covered in soap scum! So bascially I cleaned the entire room myself. I could have called and said something about the cleanliness of the room but I work at a hotel and just figured it would be easier for everyone, myself included to just deal with it. There were only 2 friendly cast members and they were the 2 people that were sitting at the vacation club information booth. Most people were just rude and were put out to have to help you. At pop every morning they pressure wash the walk ways and always kept the grounds clean. CBR's walk ways are disgusting! there were dead worms all over the place, and it didnt rain until the end of our stay and they had been there since day one. Someone had spilled coffee on the walk way and it stayed there all week and what made it worse was that people were wheeling their suit cases through it. Our sheets were not changed once while we were there. My husband had a blister on his foot that bled through the night and the blood was on the sheets until we left yesterday morning! Our fridge did not work until the last day when I had to change the outlet it was in. I know that becuase I didnt tell the desk I have no right to complain here...but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up :/ our honeymoon when it came to accomodations was less than magical:headache:

I'm sorry to hear that you were a bit disappointed with your room. As far as changing the sheets go, I usually take my sheets off the bed and pile them in the corner of the room with dirty towels on them. I do this every two or three days just so I know that the mousekeepers actually do change the sheets.

We once had an issue with our fridge and called maintenance. Within fifteen minutes, they brought us another fridge.

Like WDWisOurHappyPlace pointed out, the issues that you had are found at all levels of Disney Resorts. I hate that they affected your stay.

Me, personally, I would have contacted the front desk immediately and complained. But, that's just me.

I have been going through this post to find pics of the pirate rooms but I am little overwhelmed. :)

Could some post some pics of the pirate rooms or point in the direction of where pics are posted?

We're planning to head over for a couple of days and I am thinking of surprising my DS with a pirate room.

We checked photos of all the resorts we haven't stayed at yet, and CBR is the family favorite for our next trip (for 11 nights). I have one question, though.

On our next trip DD will be 17 and DS will be 14. They do not want to share a bed :scared1:. What are the chances of us getting a roll away bed? I know the charge is $15 a night and we agree we would would rather stay in a standard room with a rollaway than a preferred room without one. I understand they cannot guarantee the rollaway, but if I make reservations now for a December trip, will we have a good chance of getting one if I add it to my request?

Are we better off just planning on using a twin size air mattress? We could mail it down so we don't have to lug it on the plane.

Any input is appreciated. TIA

I would ship down the mattress. You can't reserve ahead of time for them. It is first come first served.

My DH gave me the go ahead for a Spring Break trip. I picked CBR and a pirate room. It will be me, my DS-13, DD-11 and DS-5. We will be there March 15-18.

Ive stayed here before and really enjoyed the resort. No issues with the room, cast members, anything really. I cant wait to go back and hopefully the weather will cooperate this trip. Our last trip was in May...you know the week that it rained non stop for the whole week LOL!

I will be staying here for one night before switching resorts. The pool looks great and we haven't been here before. I have been on the Magical Express bus when they dropped off folks. I am a little confused about the white vans.... So, basically you come off of Magical Express and check-in at the Custom House? Are the white vans "internal shuttles"?

I am trying to figure out distance on the resort map. Basically, once I have gotten off a plane and then a bus, I am happy to take a little walk and avoid another shuttle. At a leisurely pace, how far is the Custom House to the Town Center?

Thanks!

I'm very Confused about CBR! Because my mom always sleeps in the cot! I requested the lower room in Trinidad North!

KimRaye! here is my question is this? Does the CBR has special rates for December 2010!

Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to book the CBR for November 11-14. I think it has the best theme for a mod. :thumbsup2We want to go to the Christmas party and see the MK decorated for Christmas. A couple of questions...

Has anyone traveled with older kids and have they liked the pool? Mine are 13. 10, and 8.

Will it be too soon for the CBR to have any deocrations up and around?

I've traveled with my kids, and several nieces and nephews of varied ages, and they ALL like to swim, get wet, whatever, in ANY of pools, including the 'private' pools, so I think you're OK on that! :thumbsup2 Swimming in November? I can't answer that tho. :confused3

We just stayed at CBR Nov. 14-20, 2009. DS8 and DS9 loved the pools and atmosphere, had a blast on the hammocks :)

The parks were decorated for xmas, but I didn't notice that much at the resort yet, although that wasn't a priority for me.

thanks for the info! our family are planning go to disney on October 2010! OH! One more thing! How to get the passes to all four disney theme parks!

Can't wait for my first CBR stay!!! Can someone tell what are the choices for refillable mug at CBR? I know sodas and coffee, what about hot chocolate, icees / slushies, lemonade, tea, or other non-soda beverages? My kids loved the slushies at POP!! Thanks!

Glad you found your answer.

I just thought I would add that we were just at CBR over Christmas and did "the walk" to our room upon check-in and back again at check-out. We were in Bldg. 56 in Aruba and had no trouble even with all our baggage. The four of us had 2 med. sized cases, 1 carry-on case, and 4 handbag sized carry-ons. The cases have excellent wheels (the rollerblade type) and our handbags are designed to mount on top of the cases for wheeling around. I agree about wanting to walk after the plane and bus rides!

However, we did see families with eight plus pieces of baggage, so of course, they needed the bell services van. I think more people need to think about packing lighter so their lives can be a little easier.:)

Hey DISers ... heading back for another round at CBR this fall. Hurray!

I loved our time at CBR so much last time, it was between CBR and CR. And since we wanted to have more money to do fun things like MNSSHP and V&A's ... CBR it was. :)
