We stayed in Jamaica 45 and really enjoyed it! I felt no need for preferred. We were about 2-3 minutes from OPR and 2 minutes from the bus stop. Also our stop was usually the 1st stop so we never had to stand. Although we never stood even on the way back to the hotel.

I am looking for some thoughts on rooms close to the main pool and food court that are not peefered.

Thank you so much. being close to the bus stop was why we wanted to stay there. we are going with 8 children 6 under the age of 5, so not walking far was kind of a priority

I am here right now and staying in Jamacia 46. I am on the second floor and in the middle of the building.
The bus stop is close, the quiet (not this week though with the dance crews...ugh) pools are across the building. About a 5-10 minute walk for this old chick. The main food court building and pool are about a 15 minute walk across the bridges. I have 2 elderly family members and 2 children and have to drive over there - it is too much for them to walk.
There isn't a smoking area on this side of the buildings - it is on the other side and isn't very convenient but I felt it was important to add.

Hope this helps :)

Does the main pool have towels available? I'm trying to figure out if we need to pack some in our carry on bags...

You can take the ones from your room there. There are containers to put them in when you are done. Housekeeping will replentish the ones in your room and/or you can call them for more.
HTH :)

Martinique building 23 is not a preferred location but is still close to the food court. We've stayed there before and it was a great.

FYI-6 days till we arrive at CBR!!! :goodvibes

Can we call tomorrow (5days till check in) and find out what village we are in?

We can't wait to be there..... YAHOOOO:banana:

Thanks for the info Safetymom....we thought we had read somewhere that we could find out...oh well...i guess we have to wait till Sat!!!:goodvibes

Yeh, what you read was incorrect. Your room isn't your room until you are physically checking in. Even if a room has been pre-assigned to you, they still might give someone else that room for a variety of reasons, and they don't want to get caught in a situation where they have to disappoint you by changing what they already promised you. Hotels need to keep their options open. For example, let's say they told you you'll be in room 1234, your first choice, but 2 days before you arrive the family staying in room 1232 notices a problem and they have to change rooms and their old room has to be taken out of service for a few days ... the hotel can move them to room 1234 for the remainder of their stay, which will overlap with yours. But if they promised that room to you for 2 days later, they'd have no way to immediately help the other family who's already staying there.

Not a perfect example, but I hope it gets the point across.

They're so strict that if you check-in at the front desk and your room isn't ready yet, they won't even tell you your room number at that point. They'll give you a card with a phone number, and you call later in the day to find out your room number (you'll have your room key, but won't know where to use it!).

HAVE FUN!

 To add to what CleveRocks said, even if you called the resort, calls actually go to a call center where the operators answer with the name of the resort and will tell you it is the front desk. It is rare that a call gets through to the resort.

Sooo, it will be a nice surprise when at check-in..but remember, if you hoped for another village, ask the CM if s/he might please try to find a room in that village for you. Most CM's are terrific about trying to help.

Have a GREAT trip!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the replys Minnie&Nana and CleveRocks! This truly feels like a first trip to us even though my DH has been to WDW more than 60 times (he has finally lost count!!) and this is my 15th trip! We have always stayed at either the Poly or WL and we know where our room will somewhat be (club level longhouse at the Poly or 7th floor at the WL:goodvibes) But we are so looking forward to this trip to the CBR! We have read so many great reviews in the past couple of months since we changed our resort to the CBR! (they definitely outnumber the bad reviews!!) And my 3yr old son can't wait to try out "Captain Jack's" pool!!! That is what he calls it!!:rotfl:

We have been researching like crazy and looking at everyone's great pictures!! (thanks to safetymom, mickeystoontown and momof2disneyboys!!!)
:woohoo:

Oh, I so understand! From 1981 thru 1988 we stayed at Poly or CR..then CBR opened and we decided to try it - it was brand new and would save on cost. We very much enjoyed it...it was an adjustment at first - the lack of amenities we were accustomed to, the lobby not connected to the blgs and so on, but CBR was so pretty. Since WL rooms are about the same size as CBR rooms, room size may not be to much of an adjustment for your family.

I hope you enjoy CBR as much as we did on our first stay :) We returned to CBR the next 3 summers and went back in 2005 once more. It is beautiful - I hope the resort cutbacks will not be noticeable.

A few things have changed - no longer will guests find rocking chairs on the porch..and the music is different than our first few stays. The restaurant is moved and we do not find it as nice as the former one, but many guests like it very much. :)

Again, I so hope you enjoy your stay. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

There are courtyards in all the villages at CBR. They are a favorite view for our family. We think it isn't worth it for a water view.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for all the replies. Do you have any thoughts one whether or not any one building in Trinidad (where the pirate rooms are) is better than another?

Thanks! :cheer2:104 days to go!pirate: BTW how do I get one of those countdown tickers?

Are you wanting to be as close to OPR as possible? If so then buildings 34 & 35 would be your best bet. If you are looking to be as close to the TS bus stop and quiet pool as possible then probably buildings 36 & 37 would be a good request. Closest to the beach 37 & 38. And for the furthest out and possibly the quietest location building 39.

Here is a link to a map ~ http://www.allears.net/acc/cbrmap.jpg

To get a ticker you can click on someones ticker and it should take you to the website where you can set yours up. After you set it up you just copy and paste it into your signature here. :goodvibes
