Tom - Son (12)
Sam - Son (6)
After a really good nights sleep we were up and looking forward to the day ahead. We were off to Magic Kingdom as Sam (aged 6) just could not wait to go on the Stitch's Great Escape as he is his favourite character by far!. After breakfast at CBR (the usual toast for us and pancakes/oatmeal for the kids) we had to wait for Dougy to check the back of an english paper so he could read the sports headlines. He did this everyday in the morning!!
It was hot hot hot!!...we had a couple of rain showers for the first 2 days but now there was not a cloud in the sky!!. Straight on the bus and away we go!!. Sam ran most of the way to Stitchs great escape he knew exactly where it was as last year it opened the day after we come home and he had not stopped talking about it for the year!. Once again no queues and straight in. We didnt know what to expect as I made sure I had not read up about the ride as I wanted it to be a total surprise for Sam and I can never trust my big mouth. So as anyone who has ridden it knows you go into a dark room and then the lights go out.....uh oh big mistake Sam is scared of the dark. I felt his hand grab mine and once Stitch was going around the room he was petrified. He wanted to get off and I just sat there reassuring him willing it to end!!. Finally when it finished one very shaky 6 year old came out. We had to reassure him that it was not the 'real' stitch and that of course none of us liked it either. Tom (Big brother) stood there tutting at him I stood there glaring at Tom!!. Not the best of starts!!. We sat down and got a drink and Sam slowly came round!!. Next was Buzz Lightyear ride. Now in this family there has been major disputes in the past year....we are probably the most competitive family ever and last year Dougy won on Buzz Lightyear the 3 times we went on. I was convinced somehow he was cheating as his points quadrupled ours put together. The tension was high, silence from the Greig family as we jumped on the ride to compete. Now this is very serious as its a rematch. I sat with Sam but made sure Tom kept an eye on Dougy as we were so positive he had found a secret point button or something.....I aimed and fired as if my life depended on it but he had done it again...Dougy had won and again by a huge margin. I even asked the cast member if there was something he could be doing that caused the points to go up but he reassured me there was not. So we had to put up with Dougy and his smug face and comments for the rest of the day.....however in a later instalment you will see I took the smug look of his face (not by winning Buzz Lightyear as the boys and I confirmed we would never ride it again as it was rigged!!).
Tom wanted to go on Space Mountain so Dougy went off with him whilst Stitch was near his ride. I took Sam over and this reassured him that the real one was not inside the ride. He took my photo with Stitch aswell and I told Sam after that Stitch told me he didnt like the ride either so all was well again!!. Went on the indie cars and then to Mickeys Toon Town. Lots of photos with the characters and the boys bought a few sweets. Went on Goofys Barnstorm thats a great little ride. The teacups were next and the boys made it spin with all their might will I sat there going green. I love the Winnie Pooh, Small World and SnowWhite rides although the boys grudgingly went on them....miles to girly!!!
Off we went to Mickeys Philamagic (is that right??) We love this 4D show and think its the best!!...it was better than remembered from last year and you cant come out of there without a smile!!. Off we went to Thunder Mountain and then Splash Mountain.....brilliant!!. It was really hot and when we looked at out watches we realised it was 5.00 we had nothing to eat since breakfast but who cares!!. Decided to go back to CBR and have a swim in our 'village pool'. The boys wanted to go to Downtown Disney and to the Rainforest Cafe for the tea. So we got showered and ready but I could see Sam was starting to wilt. Jumped on the bus and Sam dropped off to sleep within seconds....arrgghhh!!. Now we had a decision do we wake Sam up and attempt dinner knowing he would be grumpy OR go back to CBR with one grumpy 12 year old (Tom) who had not got to Rainforest Cafe. I offered to take Sam back but Dougy suggested that we all went back. I went to the room with Sam (I am reading a fantastic book at the moment so didnt mind reading!!) Tom went to the pool with Dougy (and the bar!!) Dougy bought me 2 different cocktails back to the room aswell as a scrummy pre packed huge salad and garlic bread. Tom was happy tucking into another pizza around the pool with some new mates he had made. Dougy went back to the bar near Tom and I happily read my book in that comfy bed next to Sam. Never heard they come back to the room at 11.00 as I was in dreamworld!!
