You just might get it! Since DS, we've always vacationed to Disney mostly in Jun & Aug because of school. I decided I'd had enough of 95 degree weather and summer storms so I booked for a "cool" Disney vacation, 2/11-2/15.

Well, let me tell you, it's back to June for me, Friday/Saturday were bitterly cold. Never again!

Stayed at SSR (2nd time), DVC memeber since 2000, I never make room requests and I've never been disapointed, well I got the red headed step child treatment this time, Carousel, facing the parking lot/street. The view was dismal at best but as luck would have it, since it was around 40 degrees I didn't spend much time on the balcony! The villa was clean, well stocked and very quiet, as we and just another family were in that building for the 1st 3 days. The other buildings/bus stops were a lot busier.

It was still a good vacation, still love DVC and even SSR. Can't wait for OKW in June, I can leave my parka, gloves and ear muffs at home!

Awww...well, maybe the fact that you're from Florida made it more of a disappointment. I'm looking forward to the weekend, just to leave all this snow behind. I'll be at BCV....I am assuming that DH will be able to get me out for a 7AM flight on Friday. U Cincinnati has been closed since noon yesterday, the streets are pretty bad in places. Maybe because yesterday was a holiday, they didn't keep up with snow removal as the towns usually do. It's still snowing, but not much more is expected.

I think many DVC members are rethinking January and February reservations after this winter. I know we are.

Here's some pixiedust to make your next trip the greatest. pixiedust:

and here's some pixiedust: for you, wishing you better weather, but really anything will be better than what you have now! There's another cold front rolling in for Tue-Fri, I'm happy to be home. I can go anytime, but I feel for those that come for a bit of better weather. Sunday/Monday it got to 65 while the sun was out and by golly I saw many heading to the pool in their bathing suits! :scared1:

It's Disney, it's vacation, time to relax and have fun, no matter the weather. Enjoy yourself!

My friends who live in Florida would never be swimming with the air in the 60s but I will, for a little bit at least. However, in January, when the air was 50, I found that that was too cold for me.

I have only stayed at SSR once, and don't know the layout. When the new pool is built, will it be convenient to the area you were in?

Thanks for the pixie dust...surely we need it!

PS. We have not had good, warm weather for my school's spring break either. That typically takes place around March 19th. Next year we are planning a Caribbean cruise! I'll plan a long weekend in May to enjoy the Flower show.

I prefer OKW, this was only my 2nd time at SSR and the Carousel Bldng is near the gated entrance, with my view of it, the street and the parking lot.
The new pool is around the Springs area. Should I ever need to stay at SSR again, I'd ask for Congress Park or the Springs, or at the very least something near a fountain.

The resort is positively huge!

P.S. Housekeeping was impecable!

How do you define "bitterly cold?" I woke up to 18 degrees with a windchill of 4 degrees here in Missouri.

Considering that 40 degrees would provide some warming for we Marylanders, I don't consider it bitterly cold. :)

I'll take 40 degrees anytime. It's 29 right now and snowing. Uggghhh. Guess I will have to get my wife to shovel the driveway again.

The FL weather is hit or miss. We've gone Jan & Feb a number of times and really like it. Not good pool weather and very variable but overall we enjoy it.

I'd love some 40 degree weather considering it's a brisk 28 here now! Actually I'd take anything if it was at Disney!

OP --Glad you have a "warm" trip to look forward to!

Kristen

This is the first time in years we do NOT have a winter trip planned...instead we are going with kids and grandkids in July. I was bummed about it a few months ago, but as I look at those low FL temps, I don't feel so bad!

We will definitely have some pool weather in July.

DH just returned after a week's stay in Siberia where it was -40. :scared1: Now that's cold!

It is all relative. Coming from Wisconsin, a windy,40 degree day in Florida is compared to a 28 degree day back home. We have been here for 3 weeks and we have had very few warm days.

:rotfl: Florida native (Georgia transplant) here and I know what you mean! I want it sunny and WARM - like, you can go on Splash mountain and wear flip-flops WARM. Not warmer-than-Minnesota or Siberia warm.

We were there the first week of Jan and it was freezing. We are from NE Pa and we are use to cold and snow, but this cold at 45 felt like 25 back home. We were in scarfs, gloves, hats and winter coats at nite. We have gone in Jan for the past 4 years, but not going next year(they will probably have record highs). We have gone in the summer before and have not done it in a few years but we are going this year in June. I just hope we don't get alot of rain. So I am looking forward to some warm weather.

After many years of WDW in the summer, we went at Christmastime in 2007. It was nice, but we also missed the warm weather and longer hours of daylight that the summer provides. We also sorely missed the waterparks as it was way too cold to swim in December. We spend a lot of time in the water during the summer. The crowds were insane at Christmas. Way, way worse than the summer crowds. We will continue to travel in the summer.

:thumbsup2 There is something different about the cold in Florida. I always assumed it was due to the high humidity. Don't know if that's the reason but it goes right to the marrow of your bones. We're from NH and I tell you, the cold is not as cold here. I never go to WDW in the winter without my winter coat. Learned my lesson a long time ago.

Well, I'm not native to Florida, grew up in Newfoundland of all places (go figure) but I've been in Fl since 1972. Friday, it rained from 9 to 5pm and then it just kept getting colder. Bitterly cold, it never got above 50 and the low was 40 with wind gusts of 30mph, no sun. The typical Feb weather in Fl is 70 daytime w/ a low of about 50. We were in Epcot that night and very few people watched the fireworks, it's unfortunate for those that just stayed a few days. I wish I could send you all some FL warmth but it's 44 and windy today! Brr!

We went last year around the same time (first week in February). It was COLD! We're all wearing coats and gloves in all of our pictures. It was still a really fun trip, but brrrrrr!
