Car wash/antenna question

I recently purchased a 2009 Kia Sportage, while reading my owners manual, I read something about removing the antenna before entering a car wash. Did I read this wrong? I am only 5'4" and reaching the top of my vehicle is next to impossible. I really want to wash it, but haven't yet. The vehicle does have xm satellite capability if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!

They usually just screw on and off. If I were you I would ask the car wash attendant to reach it for you.

The car wash unscrews mine then puts it back on. I've never once unscrewed it myself.

I have to do this with my Highlander, however, the antenna sits on the hood of the car off to the side.

I always remove mine on my van prior to going into the car wash-that and push the rear view mirrors in.

No external antenna, so no issues here (actually I haven't owned a car with an external antenna in about 10 years).

I'm not quite 5'4", and I can reach mine just fine if I stand on my rear bumper. (Or I ask DS or DH to do it, if one of them happens to be with me.)

Off Topic, but here in Syracuse we have Delta Sonic and you go through a manual spray down first, then the car wash and then a hand dry, all for $13 a month for unlimited visits (yes, I visit often), plus tip to the guys that hand dry the car (and apply RainX, Body Gloss and/or Tire Shine).
