I'm not sure if you've cruised before, but just in case... If you were to take another method, you deal with bags just to get them to the vehicle you're taking to the port. Pull up to the port and the porters there take your bags for you. They are taken onto the ship and appear at or in your room (depends on your stateroom attendant, I've found) *just like* if they had been taken from your WDW room. So it's just the part where they are picked up from your room vs you taking them (or asking Bell/Luggage services to help with that) that's any different, in terms of luggage handling.
The part I like is leaving my luggage in the room at WDW and going to do something for the morning, knowing I don't even have to go back to the room to lug suitcases anywhere. I don't pack light. Someone else dealing with my luggage sounds heavenly.
