Car seat from a car rental company

Sorry if this was already addressed, but do you need a car? It usually is not necessary in Disneyland depending on what your plans are. Maybe you could avoid all this and just use the shuttle? But it depends on if you are staying in walking distance and what your other plans are.

We are only going to do Disneyland for 2-3 days we are going to visit friends and San Diego too so I think we will need the car.

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions I have a lot to consider but I'm just not positive what I'm going to do especially since it's still a bit away.

But I'm leaning towards either shipping the stroller and taking the car seat OR sending the stroller with my husband and taking the car seat.

I am still open to using a rental one but am leaning against it....

I only did rental once and that was the end. There wasn't any toddler car seat and we waited almost a hour for someone to bring one over. The person at the lot was not helpful at all. The attitude was why couldn't we just take the booster car seat. Hello?? Anyway, with the high price of a rental, might as well to buy a cheap car seat for the trip.

I was actually considering that since my husband will probably land before us he could run to target and get one gone pick us up....

take the car seat. Seriously. We tried to rent 2 carseats when traveling back east once and the selection was sketchy to say the least. Both DH and I were hugely disappointed. Many seemed to be old, beat up, missing pieces, etc. And this was from a top rental car company. We've never traveled without our own carseats since. What we do is take a carseat bag, packed extra diapers, clothes and blankets around the carseat in the bag to cushion it and check it (it checks for free, BTW, even with all the other stuff in there). Never had an issue and that's with a bunch of traveling. WalMart has a carseat bag that has backpack straps for $25. There are more expensive versions with wheels. You can even do the same with your stroller and use a padded bag (they do make stroller bags).

I also take our seats everywhere we go. I made sure I got The ones with the best crashtestratings so I don't want my kids less secure in a cheapo walmart thing for 20$ or a beat up old rental. Why should it be less likely to have an accident while traveling?
