Car rentals

Any suggestions for reasonably priced car rentals on both Kauai and Oahu? I’m hoping the car supply issues and prices will be better by next summer.

Book now and keep checking prices. If you have Costco book through them. They are usually the cheapest and it's very easy to rebook and cancel when cheaper rates become available. They also allow for a second driver at no cost for most of the rental companies.

Agree with Monsterkitty. We're heading to Oahu in a week and started looking at rental cars through different sites. Costco by far is the easiest and almost always had the best prices - and that 2nd driver is a good perk for us too. We started booking a car back in Sept and kept checking every week or so rebooking and canceling along the way. Once we got to the beginning of Dec we started checking a little more frequently.
The rates started out at about $1500-1700 for an 11 day rental (checking all categories, mostly compact or economy), over about 6 changes we're now at $640 for the 11 days in an intermediate (the compact was $12 cheaper, but we elected for more luggage/leg room). Not as good as we've gotten before, but I don't think it's too bad.

I would also recommend Turo. we stayed in May and used Turo to rent a jeep. the owner brought it to the resort and picked it up at the airport from us. very convenient.

We used Turo for a different trip last September and it worked beautifully!
We are heading to Aulani at the end of the month and have a Turo car booked. The owner will be meeting us when we land at the airport! for 5 days it was around $450 for a huge Van! Looking at the rental companies was at least double!
