Wondering if anyone can tell me about their experience renting a car at MCO and returning it at the port. Looking at both Avis and Alamo. Also then renting another car after the cruise and returning at MCO. Was it a easy process? How are the cars?

Thanks!

LOTS of threads discussing car rentals at the port and the shuttles between the port and rental locations. Just search for car rental/rental car.

We have used Budget and National. We like National the best, but my husband was an Emerald Club member so it was easy breezy. Other than that both are convienent an easy to pick up at MCO, drop off at the port-shuttle to ship. And then the reverse-shuttle to rental and back to MCO. All our cars were clean, new- no complaints

We have used Budget and Alamo. From those two, we had a better experience with Alamo.

We have used Budget and National. Last year we used Budget and there were loooooong line to get to t he port to drop off the family. Took a long time to get there We were backed up to almost the exit from the bridge. So needless to say, when we dropped off the car at Budget, their vehicles were also having a hard time getting to the port. I just mention this, because some people did not wait and called Uber. It was do-able because they had dropped off their luggage with the other people at the port before returning the car.

As FYI... if you are on a 3 or 4 night cruise, it might not be that much more expensive to rent a vehicle at a weekly rate and pay to park it at the port than have two one-way rentals. It sounds crazy, but depending on what you are doing, it might make sense.
