car rentals- 2nd driver free?

Just wondering if anyone knows which car rental companies still allow an additional driver (spouse/significant other) to drive w/o an extra charge.... And if you know of any- do you think they are a good or bad company?

Alamo doesn't charge for the additional driver. I have never had a problem with Alamo and have been happy with their cars.

From what I understand Alamo does charge now for an additional driver? That's just what I found out when I was googling it. Is there a way around that?

Unfortunately I can't sign up for their membership w/o a credit card which I don't have- we only have a debit card

Yes that is true. Alamo now charges for the second driver even with the Insiders Club.

Alamo doesn't always charge- the rules may differ based on promo code, but just as the insiders club won't get you a free additional driver anymore. .

If you use the Costco ID with an Alamo rental you can add a spouse for free
