I don't know if this the place to post this, but for those who rent a car, do you think $281 total for one week for a full size is a good price, or should I keep looking?

I did find a special through Budget.
economy or compact - $17/weekend day and $119/week
intermediate SUV - $22/weekend day $139/week
Any reason not reserve a special like this? Are the cars ready to be retired or something? :)
I really have no experience renting cars....

Hi there! This may get moved to the Transportation board...you should check it out, there is a lot of great rental car info over there!

Anyway, I am helping my sister with her trip this Oct. and I booked her a standard/full with Alamo for $169.xx (all-in) for an 8 day rental. I booked this rate in July. I'm hoping to get it down even more in the next several weeks!

Good luck!

Rental car questions are best asked on the Transportation Board but we can keep answering until/if it gets moved there.

$281 for a full size isn't bad in my opinion, but yes you can keep looking as it appears you have. Keep in mind that full size these days means a car the size of a Ford Fusion or Chevrolet Malibu. May not be as big as you think.

On those specials from Budget, that looks like the rate per day and week, not your final estimated total including fees and taxes. The rates look good but you do need to price them out entirely. And no, there's no gotchas on specials like that -- they are used when business is slower and they have capacity. Also note that an economy car is going to be a really tiny car like a Kia Rio and a compact is going to be a small car like a Ford Focus.

We had a great experience with Alamo when we rented from them in August. $152 for one week in a 2014 Impala. They also have the car care center on site. I highly recommend them!

Thanks everyone!
I got the Budget special on an Explorer for 202.09 all-in for a week.
I will keep checking for specials until we are closer to leaving and see if I can't get it under $200 :)
