I've been to Disney lots, but I've never had to rent a car before and I need advice.

What is your favorite rental car company that you use in Orlando? It can be on-site or off-site, we don't mind taking a shuttle.

Where do you find discounts for rental cars?

Since there will be six of us on this trip, we would need a minivan. I'm trying to get the least expensive van, but also avoid waiting in a long line to get the van. Is is worth it to sign up for things like "Emerald Isle" or some other express service with rental companies. I keep reading horror stories on how people had to wait 1 to 2 hours for their rental cars.

Any advice would be most appreciated! Thanks!!

A great place to start is the car rental (travel) section of the www.mousavers.com site. It does a great job at explaining your options at the Orlando airport. It will also provide instructions on how to join National's Emerald Aisle program without an initiation fee.

We used the mousaver's listed codes to get a very good rate from National for our minivan rental in January. We reserved it under the Emerald Reserve option, so all we have to do is grab our luggage, walk to the parking garage across the street, pick out our favorite color, and go. (Can't get any easier than that!)

Enjoy your trip!

Check Nationals website right now because they are running a special $235 a week for a minivan.

The other website that I recommend for travel discount codes is PC Pages/discount codes

Good luck! The best deal that I have found for my travel dates has been through a Budget car rental e-mail ... $199 plus tax and other fees = $256. I haven't found anything better. Budget is running something similar and if you go to !Budget Coupon you can get an extra $20 off at checkout for a weekly rental.

Also, to answer your question about programs such as Emerald Club (National), Fast Lane (Dollar), Fast Break (Budget) .... yes sign up! It's is worth it and they are all free!

Also try thrifty, I got a mini-van for $215 including tax for my dates of dec. 17-24, they are off site but a shuttle will take you there and it's fairly quick from what I've read !

All good replies. The only thing I would add is to join whatever membership program your rental agency has. This will speed up the time to get your vehicle, and you don't have to deal with any pressure for "add ons".
