Been playing around with prices. Don't really need car for entire trip, but best price I got ended up being for 8 days.... Dollar, $118 (before taxes, fees, etc), picking up at MCO and returning at Wyndham DTD... midsize car.

A few questions:
air conditioning... doesn't state in car description (hyundai sonata) any mention of AC. I see other types of rentals, some mention AC, some don't. I would assume it's Florida, it's hot.. there HAS to be AC? Or, am I wrong to assume and there very well may be no AC? Would hate to drive 2 hours each way to the beach w/o any AC.

Picking up at MCO - used to just doing DME. Assuming get luggage, then get car - pretty easy to get to car while dealing with lugging luggage?

I'm hoping the midsize car is enough... will be three kids sitting in the back fighting with each other - would much prefer a minivan, but much more $$$. Another option was the Ford Focus if did compact - which did mention AC in description. But am wondering if kids would have more room in the midsize?

Luggage - need to fit one large suitcase and 4 large carryons, so hoping for enough room - between the trunk, and also the passenger front seat to put more.

Anyone ever picked up/dropped off at Wyndham? Am assuming that could drop it off and walk across the street to DTD marketplace? Is it far?

  • I'm pretty much sure that all rental cars have AC.
  • I have a Hyundai Elantra and have been in Sonata's and the Sonata is going to be much bigger and nicer than a Ford Focus.

I've never seen a rental car, in recent history, without air conditioning. Although, it is possible for rental agencies to negotiate contracts with car companies for models with more or less features then standard, I am not aware of any that request cars without A/C.

I don't believe the Wyndham is in Downtown Disney. It's in Bonnet Creek. You can't walk anywhere from there.

I agree with the above posters. All rental cars (especially in Florida) have AC.

But am wondering if kids would have more room in the midsize?

Three kids in a Ford Focus is going to be really tight. Go with a bigger car. You don't need a minivan.

The Regal Sun right across from DTD is now the Wyndham...the name has changed. They do have a car rental on site.
