Car color question

I've had white and now I have a darkish green. I joke that it is invisible because people are always trying to change lanes right into me.

But it shows dirt terribly and scratches too. The white one always looked clean!

Wonder what color this car is?

Umm...moss green?

My answer is white is better for scratches dark green for dirt. I had a white car once and wow did that thing show dirt. My best choice for no dirt no scratches would be silver, but you didn't offer that as an option.

Since I have a green truck that is only slightly better at hidding dirt and scratches then black I'd say go with the white one.

DH is going to look at the WHITE car on Wednesday...fingers crossed. The car he currently drives is truly embarassing.

Don't know, but it is a porsche cayenne. Whoever covered it with mud should be shot.

I couldn't find any facts to support green cars being more accident prone.

Another myth is that red cars are more likely to get speeding tickets.

Oh, we've always preferred gold cars; they don't show dirt (not too light or too dark), and they don't get too hot on the inside (the darker the car, the more heat they absorb from the sun. Lighter colors reflect.)

White! I have had more than 1 dark green vehicle, and they show everything! But I still would rather drive dark green that white, I like some color on my cars.

We have had white, tan (metallic gold), green, dark blue, and red. The Metallic gold is BY FAR the best at hiding dirt and scratches. White is close behind but the metallic gold is the best.

lol. I don't know if it's true. It's something I heard once.

I did have a sort of teal green honda accord that got hit 2 weeks after I got it. I've gotten white cars ever since.

My DD has a green Honda Accord. I can't tell you how many times she has been hit, at least 2 or 3. She has also been run off the road by someone who didn't see her. Her car shows scratches like crazy. I jokingly tell her that the next time she gets hit, make it an area that hasn't been fixed and painted!!!!

I own a White Diamond Pearl Honda Accord. It does a great job at hiding the dirt. It is new, so I do keep up with washing and waxing it. It's sooo purdy:love:!!!!

I have a white car old enough to have its own driver's license, and it still looks good. Beyond the dirt/scratches issue, I just think white looks more "timeless," whereas other colors (or certain shades of colors) can look dated.

Having driven over 800,000miles in all weathers and having just about every colour going I would say that without a shadow of doubt that the best car colour for staying clean and not showing scratches is a two pack or two coat metallic silver, silver grey or graphite with a clear coat laquer.

Having figured this out, my last 5 cars have been this colour.

Worst colours, Black and metalic black and white which in our country tends to go yellow with age. Solid red also has a tendency to fade badly in strong sunlight.

If you only keep a car 3 or 4 years and keep it outa the strong sun, most colours should hold up well, but black is still a baitch to keep clean and free of water run lines and strawk marks.

I have a small black car. I like it very much :goodvibes

Yep, Black is beautiful and when I retire and have the time to keep it spotless I might get another one. It is a classy colour and no mistake.

But for a working car it takes a lot of effort to keep them looking glossy and scratch free.

My silver work car does 50,000 miles per year and gets washed once per month.

I love a white car. It really hides the dirt and scratches the best IMO. I've had a tannish taupe-y colored Camry and a silver Volvo and both were better than a dark blue Toyota I had but white takes the cake.
Some people hate white cars. I love them.

Good luck!

Oh yeah, I had a gray Pathfinder that showed dirt badly but the silver Volvo did not.

And I did have a goldish tan colored old lady Buick that indeed was probably the best at not showing dirt. While it was an old lady car, it was probably the best car--smoothest ride, etc. of any car I have ever owned. And I have owned way too many!!!!

Jennasis, what did your DH think of the white car today?
