Just got back from doing our first car boot sale! We got there at 6:30am this morning (didn't realise such a time existed on a Sunday :scared1: ).
Weather was hot and sunny and there must of been about 500 car booters on the site!
Trade was very slow though due to the amount of car booters there :(

We did make about £26 though towards our next WDW trip - and got sunburnt LOL

Perhaps we will try again next Sunday.

Our friend did a little better - her owns a small coffee van serving real coffee - he took over £500! Not bad for a mornings work.

Well done Tim! I've done a car boot before and raised about £60, although i think we probably spent that amount on tea and coffee because we were so cold. Every little bit helps though!

well done Tim :thumbsup2 every little bit helps for your hols!
I did a car boot a few months ago and found that people want your goods for nothing

my kids seem to spend it as fast as I earn it ! :rotfl:

glad you had fun tho.

Well done Tim, I hope to do one soon to get rid of stuff that is cluttering the garage & loft up:thumbsup2

I used to find that - people would buy something for 5p, then ask if you had a carrier bag, then fumble around for the 5p, as if expecting you to say "oh it doesn't matter, have it for nothing"
And the stealing! Used to be shocked that people would steal an item that would have cost only 10p to buy.
I used to do one once a year, but gave up when I discovered e-bay!

If you have young children or babies, look for a local NCT sale - you can make good money selling your baby things there.

The most enjoyable aspect of the day was people watching :)

There are some real weird folks out there and most of them seemed to be at our car boot today LOL
- and talk about chav central

We had one bloke stop at our stall and started to tell us about the fishing tackle he had just bought :confused3 We hadn't seem him before in our lives, but he just talked to us as if he was our best friend - really weird. Me and Julie just kept looking at each other trying not to laugh.

Another chap was walking round all day with half a Dyson cleaner - don't know if he was looking for the other half or had half a cleaner at home

DH and DS did one yesterday, there was loads of booters and hardly any buyers and we thought it would be really busy. They made £52 which we were disappointed with as we've made over £100 before now. We had a whole collection of Mr. Men books that cost us over £60 and someone said they could get them brand new for £15! They came home, keeping them for the grandchildren!!!! And the nerve of some woman saying a mirror my previous employers had given us as a wedding present (which I knew they had got from a very well respected department store) was made of plastic. If I'd been there I would have hit her over the head with it, the nerve of the woman! Most of our stuff came home and is now destined for the charity shop when they open.
