I thought that Captian EO was temporary and HISTA was going to come back. Anyone know what the plans are as I think Captian EO has run it's course for us.

:goodvibes

I'm interested in the answer to this myself. I saw awhile back that Disney was staying with EO until the numbers dropped and then would go back. I'd be a little surprised to see that numbers have not dropped by now. :confused3

I think they should scrap the theatre and do something else. 3D isn't unique or a fad anymore.

I'm happy , they brought back Caotain EO. MJ and the bit of history behind the show. .:goodvibes

Lots of people here hate EO for some reason, but on my recent trip (end of this May) the theater was pretty much full all 4 times I saw it, if that helps at all. This may come as a shock to some here, but there are lots of people out there (myself included) who are MJ fans and like Captain EO.
I've honestly never seen the same level of hate here for any other attraction- even Stitch doesn't get slammed as much as EO, and I don't understand it.

Back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

Agreed.

I also don't get the Captain EO hate. I was really little my first trip and I missed out on seeing it before HISTA came into being. I was taken in to see it when I was...I had to be 13 -16 and I hated it. I wasn't thrilled with the TV series at all growing up in the 90s (even if my cousins and I watched it every day after school) and I've never seen one of the movies. I also only know Eric Idle from helping out writing the musical Seussical and Monty Python stuff so I remember I was surprised to see him (even if I totally hate him in the Imagination ride). I'm absolutely terrified of rats and snakes. I only went on it once and that was it with me and HISTA. I never went in that theater again until last year for EO. I didn't even want to go see it last year but my cousin would've been so mad me. She wanted me to see it so bad so I could tell her about it so I went in. To be honest, Michael Jackson creeped me out (he still does a little but I appreciate his music). I didn't grow up listening to his music so I knew little about him besides what I saw on TV about his trial. I wanted to run out during the preshow video but I stayed. I loved the film so much (I just have to sit with my feet up on the chair because I don't like the air hitting my ankles. As a musical theater student/performer, I think it's a wonderful film and should keep playing as long as possible. :3dglasses It's a part of legacy of Michael Jackson and we should remember the music he left behind.

Also, when I went last year, I saw it three times. The first two were packed but the last one was a thinner crowd, it was an odd time (I think pre-Illumations?). I go in 36 days so I'll see it and the crowds for it then

I don't think HISTA is ever coming back. Eo will lea once they have something new.

I was employed at WDW when Captian EO was originally out. Saw it enough then. I was indifferent to it coming back and took the kids to see it. Now it's been there a while and I'd rather see HISTA back than Captian EO one more time. I grew up with MJ but his and his family's credit issues leave some of us who work hard, make little and still pay our bills a bit disgusted. The last place I want to be reminded of this type of rampant irresposibility is while I'm on vacation.

I vaguely remember Captain EO from when I was little. I hope they keep it up till December when we're back, as I'd like to see it again. HISTA was always fun, and if they bring that back eventually it would be fine, but I would also like to see something new in that pavilion.

I've never been a big MJ fan, however I enjoy seeing Captain EO, and am glad they brought it back. I don't expect we'll ever see HISTA again. I suspect that Captain EO will leave when they've come up with something new for the location, which isn't likely to happen until there is a new corporate sponsor for the pavilion.

I will say this, my DD(then 15) and her friend loved EO last summer. When we were there, the theater was pretty well full, and after the show, the merchandise cart outside was doing pretty well also, I know, they spent quite some time there, not to mention, quite some money :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't hate EO, in fact I've never seen the show. I just miss HISTA :sad1: I remember that being one of my favorite parts of Disney as a kid.

I don't think we're going to see Honey, I Shrunk the Audience back at all. That was dated since the original film came out in 1989 and the actor who played the youngest Szalinski kid is now 33 years old. Captain EO was brought back after Michael Jackson's death but that is even more dated since it came out in 1986. At the time, each of these presentations was at the cutting edge of the technology (Honey, I Shrunk the Audience debuting in 1994). However, we all know something else can be better now and I think that's what Disney will be doing. I think Captain EO will stay until something totally new replaces it or the theatre is shut down entirely.

First time I saw Capt EO was in 1990, I was 9 years old, and it scared the crap outta me! I spent the entire show with my face buried in my mom's lap and covering my ears! I have no desire to go back and see it!

On the other hand, I loved HISTA!! I'm sad its gone, I know it was greatly outdated but I think that gave it its charm!!

I would love to see a new 3D movie in there, that would be awesome too!!

Until then we are stuck with EO...

:3dglasses

The entire pavilion needs a major re-do. From Captain Weirdo to Figment. Disney can do better than those two.

I saw Captain Eo the other day and was suprised at how good it was. There were allot of Europeans in the crowd and they really got into it and cheered when Michael Jackson first appeared.

I've never seen EO and hope it will still be there early next month when I go. I've never been impressed with HISTA so I'm glad it is gone

While I like both HISTA and Captain EO, I do think it is time for Disney to do something else with this area. Both shows have run their course. Epcot needs something new!

Don't know just hope it stays at least until i get there this Fall.

I agree that Epcot needs something new but unless Disney can beat Forbidden Journey it's fine by me if they keep EO up for a while.

MJ was probably the biggest Disney fan out there. It's nice that a piece of him still lives on in a place he loved.

We really enjoyed going to HISTA and want it to come back!
