Captain America: Brave New World

I thought it would've been more of an impact to have his daughter show up and talk him down, I also hated how the dialogue seemed to be focused on explaining to the audience what was happening why it happened and what happen to get us to this point. I'd def put it in the bottom tier of MCU movies
I really noticed this on the 2nd watch and it struck me as a terrible plot device of news reports to catch the audience up to speed on all the characters and previous movies. The worst was when they had a news report talking about Ross heading to Japan when they just went over why he was doing that in the very last scene. I think this is a lot like what Netflix is supposed to start doing where they're reminding the audience over and over what's happening because people now watch stuff half paying attention.

I also have higher hopes for Thunderbolts and FF. I wish they would've given Anthony Mackie a better script and plot to work with. It had the bones of a good movie but it was just pieced together to be really good.

Holy exposition overload Batman.

Too many tie-ins to other films in the MCU and future films, and not enough just building an individual story for Sam Wilson being Cap.

It was fine enough with the action sequences, but narratively, too much being thrown into it.

Box office is not great, so it appears to not be connecting with the fan base. During the MCU great word of mouth helped the films have legs. This is rare as of late in Marvel.

A captain America movie without Captain America (Chris Evans) just didn’t hit it seems. Most people seem to be waiting to catch it on D+.

Well, it was a Captain America movie without Steve Rogers. One thing that they are forgetting, and the comic book companies are very guilty of this, is that fans like certain characters, not certain names. You can't just call some new guy Batman and expect that people like him. The names are not ranks, that someone should get "promoted" to. Now, I happen to like The Falcon - Sam Wilson - a lot, so the movie worked for me. It may as well been called Falcon and Falcon Jr. though.

Of course, the MCU in general does try to downplay the codenames, and I don't get all caught up on that, but it illustrates the primary issue that the MCU is having - it doesn't matter if they still have Captain America and The Avengers, etc. What they don't have is Steve Rogers and Tony Stark - which is what made the MCU so special in the first place. Personally, I am still willing to give the movies a chance (as long as they don't have Deadpool in them), but that's where the lack of buzz is coming from.

Yeah and I think that was my problem with it. This movie which is the first for Sam Wilson as Captain America, had too many ties to story elements that existed when Steve Rogers was Captain America. It wasn’t something fully new and unique for Sam, but a blend in with things that already existed.

But Sam perfectly embodies the title of Captain America. He was Steve's chosen successor. He IS Captain America.

He can be A Captain America, but he isn't THE Captain America. He is not Steve. He is a great character though and he is THE Falcon.

We're gonna need room for Lunella Lafayette... she's going to be with S.H.I.E.L.D for quite a while.

I don't think it's even so much a matter of not having Steve and Tony anymore, but that they haven't built up anyone to replace them. By the end of phase 2 (where we are at now for this saga) Iron Man had 3 solo films, and Thor and Cap each had 2, plus two Avengers teamup films. So we got to know these characters well by that point. We haven't had any follow up films in this phase for characters yet. There have been a few sequels but they have been to moves from the Infinity Saga. We have even had 12 shows as well at this time that are directly in the sacred timeline and even there there has been very little carryover. Loki had 2 seasons and Ms Marvel carried over into The Marvels. WandaVision had a bit of followup between Monica, Agatha, and Wanda continuing onto another project from that point. I think the overall issue ahs been that they have tried to spread it too thin with characters so it is taking a long time to get back around and follow up with what they are doing, and we haven't had any big teamup movies, that the audience isn't as invested in specific characters.
