Capt. Jack's Wenches (&swabbies) lose the weight for 8/08 Getting our Magic back!

Hi,

Just found this thread - wanted to introduce myself - I'm also trying to slim down before the cruise and am trying to make it a lifestyle change - so maybe some of us would want to hit the gym when we are on the boat?

I'm all for weight watchers - it works if you follow it - but there is always the emotional part that is the big reason behind the eating which I struggle with. I think one day at a time is much more doable than a big 'plan' - in any case that's how I'm trying to approach it.

Good luck and good health to all of us!

WELCOME! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I had a great first week, but I really struggled this weekend!!!! I found myself to be sooooo hungry and slipped a little bit. But that is okay, I didn't beat myself over it, but I learned that I have to try to eat more foods that are better for me and more filling.

So since this time last week, I lost either 4 or 9 lbs. Woo Hoo! Reason I don't know for sure is because the starting weight seemed really off, but who knows. I've also decided to go through a detox program next week. Mostly just lots and lots of water, but I really think I need a good jump start to get me focused and centered. Will see how it goes. Hope everyone has a great week!

YAY YOU! 4 (or 9!) is awesome!

YAY everyone else who is losing. It it good to be a loser. :)

I'm stuck. Stuck. Stuck. Stuck. I have been stuck at the same weight, to the tenth of a pound, for the last MONTH. I am so annoyed. 5 more pounds I'll be happy. 10, I'll be ecstatic. But I'm stuck.

Today was weigh in day. Still the same. I just ate a bag of peanut M&M's. Conterproductive and self-loathing? Maybe.

Yikes!!!! The peanut M&M's don't seem like a good idea!

Hang in there...

Hey M - how much water do you drink? That's one thing I've learned is that the more I drink, the better I do. And no, the peanut M&M's weren't the wisest choice, but sometimes it's frustrating. Next time, just go for the nuts without chocolate.

Anyway... I started something new last week. It's a 9-day fasting / cleansing / meal replacement, all natural, blah blah blah program. Usually, I'm very skeptical, but my bother is even more skeptical than I am on almost everything and he's the one who told me about it. Apparently, some guys he works with on the fired dept have done this and feel better and loose weight too. AND if they change their portion sizes and make better choices, they keep it off.

I really needed a boost to be motivated and to get into focus on changing how and what I ate, so I figured I'd try it and see how it went. First of all the biggest thing is drinking a whole heck of a lot of water. I'm drinking about 120 oz per day. Yesterday I drank less and felt sluggish. Second is to exercise however you choose for 20 minutes. For me, all I can manage at this point is to get off at the furthest bus stop and walk to work.

OK, so the two pre-cleanse Days were a shake for breakfast & dinner and a 400-600 calorie meal for lunch. Cut out all sweets, sugars, sodas, coffee, chocolate, and only eating things that are natural. Fresh or frozen fruits & veggies. Real meats, no processed foods, etc.

Days 1 & 2 were fasting w/juice and the HARDEST days so far. I couldn't make it all weekend and ended up having a couple almonds on Saturday and a half a pita and PB on Sunday to get ready for staying up forever to watch Mickey swim and swim and swim.

Days 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 were again a shake for breakfast & dinner and a 400-600 calorie meal for lunch.

Days 8 & 9 are fasting w/juice again and the final days of the plan.

As of day 6, I had lost 10 lbs and a overall total of 11 inches. I think those figures were a bit off though cause even though I'm not supposed to check in until tomorrow, I cheated and stepped on the scale this morning. It said I had only lost 6 pounds.

We'll see what the final results are on Monday morning, but I'm already planning on doing their 30-day plan too. Mostly because I think if anything, it's having a good effect on me. I'm hoping by following it, I can get a gripe on my portion size and the drinking more water has really helped, too.

Yesterday I took the same salad to work I've taken for the past two weeks and yesterday, I was stuffed when I done. Next time it has to be smaller. Today for lunch, I went to Subway. Normally, I can down a footlong and not blink an eye, but today I got a 6" and was again stuffed.

So, that's where I am at this moment. Actually, where I am this moment is peering out the window wondering where the freakin UPS man is with my soup!! I know that I will easily get bored with the shakes twice a day so I ordered their soup and a couple treats so at least I have a variety. And let me tell you, this stuff isn't yummy yummy yummy, but it's tolerable and helps, so I'm going to go with it.

Good luck with the week all!

Wow Jennifer,

Good for you!!!!

I have found with my Weight Watchers Online plan, the best result that is has had for me is portions.

I also take lunch to work everyday and not eat fast food. For my personal situation, I think that is 75% of the battle.

PS, I got a package today and I bet it is Wii Fit. I am so excited and I am headed home to see what it is! :)

Keep up the hard work everyone!

Congrats to everyone on thier losses.

M - hang in there...it's tough when we plateau!

As of last weigh in on Friday (the 16th) I had lost 21 pounds..so far nothing this week (tough weekend - wedding reception and a thank you dinner at the church..both italian food :scared1: )

I did the best I could but unfortunately, I had to make my portion sizes so small..I was hungry...I stayed away from snacking but felt miserable.

I was hoping to get to my 10% by this Friday..we shall see...

You will have to let me know how the Wii Fit is...DD won a Wii (she will get it in 2 weeks but doesn't know it yet) for selling GS cookies. I don't want to check it out yet because DD will sonder why I am doing that since we don't have one ... yet :rotfl:

Thanks guys. I needed to vent.

I got my Wii fit on Tuesday. I haven't been home long enough to take it out of the box yet!

As of last weigh in on Friday (the 16th) I had lost 21 pounds..

(healthy dancing snack!)

21 lbs is GREAT!!

I am going to try it out this weekend, I will let you know!
We love the Wii.

The new Mario Kart racing game is really really fun for all of us (even DD3 plays it!) I recommend that!

Hi everyone,
I am on WW too, and I really love it. I am happy that so many others are on it to....good morale before the cruise!
I also this past few weeks have been STUCK as well. I have been losing a 1/2 pound per week for the last 4 weeks. It's my own fault, I have not really been TRYING...kind of a half-massed attempt. DH and I stopped exercising the last 2-3 weeks, so I know that hadn't helped, but he just was not getting enough sleep at nights, so poor thing has been so tired....:(

Good news, is that we are back to going to the Y (we have to go in the evenings too, M) and I am going to be more conscienscious about getting my water in. Weigh in is today, wish me luck, even though I know the results won't be great....
I still want to lose 15 before the cruise. I have to start trying harder! Time is running out....:scared1:

Finding time and energy to exercise is a challenge for me too. I teamed up with a friend from work and we make each other go. That has helped me alot!

Plus our Zoomba teacher is awesome, I love her to bits. That is a class that makes me laugh! :)

Glad to see that you are all doing & well & sticking to whatever plan you decided on. :cool1:

Me? Not so good & I'll tell ya...it's the Mike's Lemonades that are killing me! Between eating out on Mother's Day & DH's birthday...I went so far over my points the first week that I just stopped keeping track. Seems to be an ongoing problem with me! :sad2:

I haven't given up though. I keep trying to make "better" choices & I will get back to tracking my points...soon. :scared:

I know how you feel, my very first week on Weight Watchers was mothers day and my kids got me 2 bags of mini powdered sugar donuts...my weakness!!!

Being that I was at the beginning of my weight loss journey I was able to resist mostly!

I am having one problem with WW. I would so much prefer to have a glass of wine that I skip breakfast everyday. I am sure that is not the intention...

But, I have learned to make better choices AND more importantly, I plan my meals which prevents me from eating anything and everything I can get my hands on when I come home everyday. I have also started to enjoy cooking!!! :scared1:

Hang in there and only 78 more days for me before we leave for our journey!!!

78 days and 10 pounds to go!

Here's what works for me - I only allow myself to drink my exercise points!
I only let myself have a glass of wine/beer if I've exercised that day. I'll admit to sometimes slipping on the weekends, but during the week I've kept to that plan pretty well since the first of the year.

I love hockey season - 1 game = 3 light beers!

I really enjoy a glass of wine with dinner or after the kids go to bed, so it is good workout motivation for me. That and the triathlon in 2 weeks that I was dumb enough to sign up for. :scared1:

That is a great idea...I kind of started doing that too, where I could drink the points that I earned by exercising. It seems to work pretty good. This weekend was a wash out for me and I did a bad job of tracking points and didn't exercise at all! But, the good news is that I feel like crud because of it, so that to me means that I am enjoying eating better and exercising. So, I accidentally remotivated myself and I think I will do better because of it! YEAH!

Good morning!

Tough weekend with the Holiday...I let myself go a little crazy with the food..and unfortunately..the margaritas! Went to the movies yesterday and unfortunately..gave in to the popcorn my DD was eating (had butter on it!)

At my WI on Sat..lost 1.6 but did not hit the 10% ...I know that the 1.6 is still a  but I was hoping for something huge.

Onward for this week! I really want to hit my 10% but that is still 3 pounds to go...

Hang in there everyone! Have a great week!

Drinking your exercise points - what a great idea!! My WI day will be on Sundays from here on out. I think the fasting day each week "messes" with my numbers, so I won't know till Sunday. But I was SO bummed out the past two days because I haven't been able to stick to my plan because of family and it being a long weekend. So.... I put my dress on again, just to "feel pretty". lol I was so glad I did because the top part of the zip actually meets now, so it's just the part in the middle I have to work on and it's not really all that much. I feel so much better now, that I can really make it. Will see how the inches and pounds add up on Sunday, but I already now my changes are making a differnece.

UGH, sounds like where I was. Hang in there!!!!!
