My kids are addicted to Capri Sun pouches. My son is on the autism spectrum and sometimes Capri Suns are the only thing we can count on him drinking, water is hit or miss. We're leaving in 3 weeks, so he has to drink a lot of fluid while we're there! I'm ordering water from Costco and having it shipped to our resort, but they don't have Capri Sun for shipment. I wanted to order from the Garden Grocer orginally, but our order won't be big enough to reach the minimum. What are your thoughts on packing a couple boxes of Capri Suns in our luggage? Our bags fly free, so not worried about that, but DH is worried that the boxes (and so the pouches) might get smashed in our suitcase. Any thoughts? :confused3

Maybe wrap the boxes up in a garbage bag inside the suitcase so if they were to leak, hopefully it would be contained.

Oh hooray! I was thinking they'd be ok, but then DH got all in my head!! :upsidedow Wrapping them in garbage bags is a good idea, just in case!!

Thanks!

I would keep them in the box and then in a small suitcase with nothing that can't get wet, I am flying SW and packing some snacks for my kiddos too, do you know what the minimum order is from Garden Grocer?

back in the good ol'days of no charge for bags we would pack one suitcase full of juice boxes (in the original packaging) and bottles of soda and never once did we have a problem. But, to avoid flames here I will suggest packing boxes of capri sun in gallon size ziplock baggies

But I highly recomend garden grocer also. My ds11 is also on the spectrum and is a picky eater, so maybe you could order his favorite foods with the juice, that will surely get you to their minimum

When we ordered from Garden Grocer last year the minimum was $40.00. Not sure if that has changed or not.

I just checked the website and it is indeed $40 plus a $12 delivery fee. Free over $200. That would be a lot of Capri Sun:lmao:

I wasn't going to order from here again for our trip, but I think I might. It's worth avoiding the trouble of packing certain foods (soy milk for my lacotose intolerant kids) or going to a store before we get to the hotel. travel as light They were excellent last time and called us right as we were leaving the airport

When you get a case of them the box is really strong, just put the casein a plastic bag and then in a suit case

Like others I would consider wrapping in a big plastic bag just to make sure. Also, can you include in a suitcase with just food? When we flew last time we had a suitcase dedicated entirely to food (microwave popcorn, cereal, apples, cereal bars, goldfish, pretzels, etc) and we used this suitcase for souvenirs on the way home!

I think you can buy huge zip-top bags (I think they were Ziploc brand but I'm not positive). I've seen them at K-Mart and at Dick's Sporting Goods. I didn't check the price. If you're worried about leaks, I think those might do better than a garbage bag.

Not sure how many you need to take, but perhaps you cold place some inside a zip lock bag, then place that bag inside Tupperware style shoe box(s)? This way it is double sealed and crush resistant?

wegoshop.com does not have a minimum to order. They did a great job with our order

why not ship the capri suns to your hotel or instead of buying water from costco have the grocer store shio both the water andcapri-suns

I have brought Capri Suns in our checked bags. I always remove them from the box and put them in a freezer ziplock bag, squeeze out the air, seal the bag and then put them in another freezer ziplock bag in the opposite direction (so that the zippers don't match up- if that makes sense). It worked great for us.

I always pack 3 boxes in our checked luggage (leaves room for "extra" stuff we bringhome). I always put them in extra large zip lock bags incase something happens but nothing ever has. Not even a dent to a box. Those are strong boxes and strong pouches.

Pack them and have a great trip.

Thanks everyone! I bought 2 boxes of Capri Suns yesterday and am ready to pack them in the suitcase! I felt like DH was over-worrying, but since I'm planning this whole thing, I guess he felt he should offer input on something!! :thumbsup2

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I don't believe you can take straws into AK. I thought I read online somewhere that you couldn't bring children's juice boxes that had straws attached in. My friend has a son with autism, so I understand the food issues. Just want to make sure you don't get there and have to get rid of them. That would be a bummer. :goodvibes:hug:
