Cap'n vs. Kona & Alfredo's vs. Coral Reef

Our (hopefully) last dining dilemma....
Would you recommend Cap'n Jacks or Kona for one (no parks) night of the DDP? Have never been to either; while Cap'n Jacks seems better for the $$, I've heard so many wonderful things about Kona. Which would you choose between Alfredos and Coral Reef (for another in-the-park day)? For anyone who has been to both, please recommend one for each of the choices...and tell me why. We also are going to 'Ohana, Chefs, Yachtsman,and LeCellier. Thank you! I appreciate your time and your opinion(s)!!

We like both Cap'n Jacks and Kona. One thing to remember, you can't make ADR's for Cap'n Jacks and you can for Kona. If you don't want a long wait at Cap'ns, I'd plan on arriving by 5 pm. You also have a better chance of a water view table if you arrive early. We never use the DDP, we have a DDE card so that might affect your decision.

I can't really help you out with Alfredo's or Coral Reef. I have found that everyone's opinion of these two run to both extremes. We like both of them, but we mainly like Alfredo's for the Fettucini. Coral Reef is very good, but expensive. If the credits are the same, I would pick Coral Reef over Alfredo's.

As for Ohana's, Yachtsman & Le Cellier, I would base my decision on how much time you have. Yachtsman is excellent, but we enjoy having ample time to enjoy our meal. We never go there on a theme park day, unless it's well after our return from the parks. Le Cellier is great either way. Make sure you try the Cheese Soup and Pretzel Bread! I don't care as much for Ohana's since they changed the menu.

Haven't been to Cap'n Jacks, but gotta' tell you, Kona was our FAVORITE dinner when we were at WDW in May. We paid out of pocket -- had we been on a dining plan, would definitely have gone twice! Appet., dinner, desserts are all fabulous, so it's a good one to go wild with on the plan.

We've been to Alfredo's but not Coral Reef, so can't compare. We did enjoy Alfredo's, standard Italian fare, which we like, although it wasn't "Wow". Now Kona compared to Alfredo's? -- Easy, Kona!

We enjoyed 'Ohana for the entertainment more than the food, but still glad we experienced it once. Kids had a ball with the coconut races, limbo, and hula dancing and they just ordered hotdog and burger from Kona menu while DH and I ate the steak, tasty but messy shrimp, a little of the other offerings, and everyone loved the yummy dessert there.

Between Kona's and Capt Jacks, definitely Kona's

For Coral Reef vs Alfredo's harder decision. I particularly like Coral Reef, but other's don't. For Alfredo's stick with the pasta dishes. For me it would depend on what I was in the mood for.

Just back and we ate at Kona twice we love it there- so I vote Kona and on the Coral Reef vs. Alfredos-two totally different restaurants- the food at Coral Reef is hit or miss- we had a hit this trip- it was delicious and great service too! Same favorite waiter we have had in the past. Alfredos was just ok food wise but the service was top notch from everyone to busboy- to servers to maitre'd they were just wonderful. The food was a disappointment because I remember the sampler as having gnocci and the alfredo? Am I wrong? Now it is just lasagna, ziti and some tortellini- So I went with the straight alfredo which was yummy-but not blow you away great.

Yep, we have ADR's for both Cap'n Jacks and Kona for our August trip.

Can't weigh in on the Kona v. Capt Jacks. Never been to either, but we are sooo looking forward to Kona in Sept/Oct.

We have been to Alfredo's and Coral Reef. We had the Fettucini Alfredo at Alfredo's and it was very good. It is my DD15's favorite dish, so I make it at home. The atmosphere seemed loud and I felt very rushed there. The service could have been more attentive.

What I loved about Coral Reef was the atmosphere. . . something about eating in this huge aquarium . . . it was surreal. I can't remember what we ate, but don't remember it being remarkable. I would go here again. Where else can you get that kind of atmosphere?

Well, I guess that lady impersonating a WDW Dining rep sure had me bamboozled!

Yes, they sure do take ADR's at Cap'n Jacks, as of a couple of months ago. I read about it here, called WDW dining and made my ADR's. My Cap'n Jacks ADR # is 400281XX(last numbers withheld to protect the innocent ).

I do agree with you on this!! We have ADRs for Coral Reef and Cap'n Jacks and we are trying to figure out a way to get Kona too!! If we can't fit it in on another day, I may have to cancel Cap'n Jacks.
