Ok, we have ADR's at both places for our first night at 5:30. The plan is to check in around 3-4 and then head over to DTD for shopping and dinner. We have been to Cap'n Jack's before. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was nice, but quite honestly we live near Newport, RI and I didn't find it much different from the places here. I can get great seafood any day of the week. So Raglan Road seems like something different we might enjoy. It will be me DH, MIL, DD 6 and DS 10. Keeping in mind that DH isn't a very adventurous diner, if you had to choose which would you pick?

We considered Wolfgang Puck, but want to stay on the Marketplace side, since this is where we will do all of our shopping.

BTW we are on the Dining Plan so we want a place that takes DDP.

I'd vote for Raglan Road, but be warned that we hated Captain Jack! Boring bland food, cheap salad, ... I felt like we were at the cheap neighbourhood restaurant for 3 times the price. Raglan Road is fun, goo food, and they have things that are not "that strange" for you DH as well.

We went to Raglan Road in July and absolutely loved it. My daughter and I both got the salmon and it was delicious. My mom got some kind of lamb dish and she loved her meal, too. For dessert we had the bread pudding and it was fantastic! There is entertainment at Raglan except on Sunday. We will definitley go back to Raglan Road next year.

We have been to both Raglan Road and Cap'n Jacks and preferred Raglan Road. We went to Cap'n Jacks for lunch and it was quiet and did not feel like we were in WDW. Our entrees were good but everything else was so-so.

Raglan Road was lively and the Scallop Forest appetizer was amazing. I would go there again just for that. My steak was perfectly cooked as I had requested. Our server was attentive and a manager came out to speak with us as we requested fruit for our children for dessert - they only had cookies or ice cream sundaes. He was understanding and wished they would be given permission to put it on the menu regularly.

Hope this helps some. :)

Cap'n Jacks gets terrible reviews, worse than pretty much every other eatery on this board. I'm willing to try anything once, and I'm not easily swayed by public opinion (I like to try things for myself), but the near universal hatred of the place combined with the pretty unimpressive menu makes me think that maybe there's something to the negativity. I'm sure I'll eat there someday, but I'm in no hurry to get there.

Raglan Road is a lot of fun, though. Pretty good food, a fun atmosphere, and a great bar. It's a nice -- but noisy -- place to spend a dinner or a late night in Downtown Disney, and the menu is diverse and interesting. There might be better food in Downtown Disney, but there's not a better dining experience in the area.

We love Raglan Road! We are going on our upcoming trip. It is good food, a fun atmosphere and good entertainment!

Never been to Cap'n Jack's - but we really enjoyed Raglan Road.

We had arrived via a red-eye from the West Coast, so we probably had a late lunch on a Sunday At RR. My son got the potato salad with his entree. I tasted it and it was wonderful! It was a warm potato salad, but wasn't vinegary, like a german pot. salad. I'm so looking forward to having it next month - but I'm concerned that I've built it up tooo much & that it won't live up to my jet-lagged memory!

hello newport ,RI we live in bristol,RI (home to americas oldest fourth of july celebration) . we are leaving in 10 days and are trying raglan road for the first time. very good reviews so i guess not too much to lose. have fun

Another vote for Raglan Road here. Love the atmosphere, and loved the food, too! I've never been to Cap'n Jack's -- and never had the desire to go, either.

I would go with RR.
I like the food at CJ, and have always had good service.
But their meal selections get more and more limited every time we go.

Hi, Another Rhode Islander here! I also say Raglan Road!!:thumbsup2 We went for the first time last February and it was EXCELLENT!! We even called the manager over to tell him how impressed we were with the restaurant and food. Joan

We have never eaten at Raglan Road but we were not overly impressed with Cap'n Jacks when we ate there in April.

OP here. Thanks for all the replies, and hey to my fellow Rhode Islanders. It looks like Raglan Road wins. We were going over plans last night and I mentioned RR rather than Capn Jacks. MIL liked the sound of RR and reminded my DH that last time he didn't like the idea of Marakesh and ended up loving it. So he's willing to try it. I think this will make a better start to our vacation. While we didn't have a bad experience at Capn Jacks, it just seemed so boring.
