My ds bought tickets for us for Christmas to attend the Capital One Bowl. It is on his bucket list! I need any advice on attending this game or any bowl game for that matter. I have no idea what to expect! TIA!

We like to go to Bowl games if we will be in that town for fun no matter who is playing. Have done the Capital One Bowl a few times, a couple times we were there with "our team".

1) If you haven't - pre-purchase parking at one of the lots surrounding the stadium. You choose your lot then buy.
2) If no connection to a team, pick one to cheer for, order some t-shirts and enjoy. So much more fun to be cheering for a team.
3) Driving - you can stay anywhere but last year they stayed Downtown Orlando and appreciated being so close to the game.
4) Driving - pack snacks, cooler, food stuffs etc - go early, tailgate, interact with other fans, go to the Fan Fest.
5) No car - def stay Downtown.

FAN FEST:
"Live music, entertainment, interactive games, inflatables, video board featuring other bowl game action and premier sponsor interactive displays including Capital One, GEICO and Toyo Tires highlight the official pre-game party, the Capital One FanFest at McCracken Field is adjacent to the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium and free to all fans with game ticket."

Thanks HopperFan for the ideas! I didn't know about prepaying for parking and will definitely do this. I also didn't even think to tail gate! That would be fun. We will down from Illinois and staying in Kissimmee at a conco so driving is not a problem. I know ds has plans for the fun fest! This should be a fun thing to do!

Parking will sell out and I don't think you want to chance parking anywhere else. Get there as early as you can get in lot and go to Fan Fest first, last year they ran out of lots of the freebies early on. Then go back to your car and picnic so you are full going in to the stadium. If you have room to pack some pop up chairs take them.

If you don't want to spend money for shirts just get colors. We once went to the bowl game in Nashville because we were there for New Years. We decided to cheer for Wake Forest and I just picked up the yellow hooded sweatshirts for everyone. Now we can wear anytime.

Have fun being a FAN! :cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks for the tips! I just bought the parking ticket and we are in lot K. I only had 3 lot choices so I hope I did good! My husband doesn't know about this so it will be surprise! This was all my ds's idea and now I am sucked into the planning. It is going to be fun!

That is where we parked a couple years ago and it's fine. Not a far walk at all.

HopperFan -
Thanks for that reassurance! It looked far on the map! I am getting pretty excited about this event thanks to your great tips!

Do the pregame pep rally. We went to the Capital one bowl a few years ago and the pep rally was at the Pointe. The team band and cheerleaders were there it was so fun.

Thanks for the tips! We're HUGE Mizzou fans and its highly likely we're going to be playing in the Capital One Bowl! So of course we'll be going to see them... we're actually on our way home from Atlanta right now where we watched them play in the SEC Championship game!

Is there an area of downtown we should avoid in getting a hotel?
