We were thinking about trying the seafood buffet on our next trip. I think that it is at Cape May Cafe. Has anyone eaten there? What do you think?

Cape May Cafe is a very good buffet. We ate there twice and really enjoyed the shrimp. Very good clam chowder and salmon. Also good non seafood selection. And awesome desserts!!! :goodvibes

Hate to be the party pooper here.....Not one of our favorites. Not that it's terrible, but we thought the food was just OK. There is a huge selection and a lot for kids, but quite frankly, we thought it was cafeteria fare at best. We've tried it twice and each time had the same impression.

What is the atmosphere in the restaurant? Is it noisy and crowdy or more quiet?

We love it it's a great buffet quality and selection was good , we have gone several times. although I would vote for Bomaas being the best buffet on property

My family loves it, tho I personally think its only fair, but then I dont particularly like seafood

We had a really good first time experience at Cape May on one of their busiest nights-Sat. of Labor Day wkend where the wait with an ADR was an hour. The food was really good-fresh and prepared well. They had little steamers that I ate by the dozens, which they kept coming...Also had carved prime rib and you could get a sirloin steak made to order. The kids went for the pizza. Desserts were really good, many in trial size portions so you could indeed try them all!lol

We enjoyed the atmostphere and the paper tablecloths for the kids to color on. Our waitress was great-she gave the kids a contest to work on, naming the 12 or 13 Disney movies that only have a one word title. This was our only buffet on the trip out of 8 nights and we all liked it. I'm much more of a sit-down dining person but the food was good here and more importantly, I felt it was freshly made.

If this is the place we went to 8 years ago (sure sounds like it was) we were disappointed. Tables had been sticky, dirty, food was unappetizing looking. It had been the worse meal of our trip.

But that was 8 years ago..

We were think of trying Cape May Cafe on our next trip since we will be staying in the Y&BC. I do not eat anything that comes out of the sea. What kind of non-sea food options do they offer? Are they good? Thanks for any info.

I really enjoyed it (went 4 years ago) and will go back in Dec.

Non seafood side was more impressive than the seafood side- excellent mashed potatoes, ribs and awesome desserts.

Seafood side had good peel and eat shrimp and clam chowder- but I expected more variety of seafood, would have preferred more shrimp selections, especially.

Food was definitely freshly made and everything was clean. We had a 5:30 PS.
It was pretty quiet throughout our meal, but by the time we left (6:30) was getting a bit noisier.

The place itself was very pretty- light and airy, we had a window seat, and my best friend and I enjoyed drawing on the white paper that covered all the tables. Our waitress quizzed us as well, though we were older (we were 21 , this was 4 years ago)
Overall, I enjoyed it. Food was tasty, service was great- can't complain!

We went to Cape May twice in 2003. We liked it very much. Is it gourmet? No. Is it like nice Sunday brunches at nice hotels? Not really. But we think it has a fabulous variety of foods sure to please anyone- nothing too fancy, but it all tasted fine, and was very plentiful.

Highlights for me- the ribs, the salmon, the rolls and the stir fry. Not to mention the DESSERTS! Best dessert selection of any of the Disney buffets we have been to.

For DH- the clam chowder & the prime rib. He thought the peel and eat shrimp were tasty, but a pain. I think he also liked the clams in the garlic butter.

For the kids- they loved the chicken strips, hot dogs, corn on the cob, fruit selection and the desserts- one time we went they had donuts out at dinner- that was FABULOUS in my kids' eyes!

We didn't care for the Cape May Clambake. I agree with the above poster who likened it to cafeteria food. Sorry.

When we went there were pork ribs, hand carved prime rib, baked chicken, some sort of stir fry with beef in it, and then there were little hotdogs and chicken strips in the kids corner that anyone can take. I thought the ribs were quite good (really saucy though) and the prime rib was good too.

The atmosphere was noisy when we were there (last March) and my boyfriend, the seafood-lover, was not impressed. I was annoyed b/c you have to peel the shrimp yourself. We felt kind of ripped off by the price and were surrounded by lots of big tables full of kids. Cafteria quality food for sure. Go to BOMA'S instead--INCREDIBLE!!

It's in one of our home resorts and we love it, but it is a buffet!

The seafood is fresh and much of it nicely steamed and lots of different sorts of foods for all palates.

We love the Clambake. We are doing it our first night in Dec. Try the bucket of crab legs, they are very good! My kids love this place too.

It was our least favorite meal. The seafood part of the buffet was pretty bad...shrimp WAY overcooked, most of the clamshells were empty, the mussels tasted funny. The other fish of the day was decent-fish 'n chips style, but they only put out about 6 pieces at a time.

We enjoyed the clam chowder. The non-seafood part of the buffet was pretty tasty. The dessert buffet was fantastic! (The oreo bon-bons lived up to their hype.)

I knew that the reviews weren't that great, but it was convenient...we were staying at the YC and spent most of the day at AK, then swam, then wanted a place for a kind of late dinner. It fit the bill. However, it was the first full day of our trip and I had no idea that Epcot WS was so close. If I had known, we could have walked over to a better WS restaurant in just a few minutes.

A couple more things:

The crab legs used to be included, but now there's a significant extra charge for them. Also, I think the prime rib has been replaced by flank steak.
