Howdy Folks!

We're headed to WDW this June, and I'm in the process of finishing up out dining reservations. There are 9 of us, 5 adults and 4 kids (7,6,4,&2). I just made reservations for our first night on property at the Cape May Cafe. I chose Cape May because all of the adults in our party are seafood lovers. I've been looking online and can't find a lot of info about the kids menu.

My question is, is Cape May's a good selection for kids too? They won't eat the seafood, but I'm sure they'll go for chicken strips, pizza, etc. Thanks!

There is pizza, and they have fish nuggets (which are really quite good - not "fishy" like cheap fish sticks can be). There is roast beef and usually some form of chicken, although not nuggets/strips; last time we were there a couple of weeks ago it was a casserole type thing with tomatoes and stuff in it, I didn't eat any. There are mashed potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese, salads, fruit... people (not just kids) who do not like seafood aren't going to starve at Cape May.

There's tons of stuff they will like! This was by far our favorite meal in January. Next trip we're going twice!!! :woohoo:

Did you check the menu on www.allears.net?

There is plenty of kid friendly food at Cape May. The kid's foods are placed on a low counter, so that they can get their own food.

Our grandson, age 5, loved the crab legs. He had his poor aunt working to dig crab meat out just for him. ;) She even showed him how to crack the legs open.

It was delicious in February, too. My husband wants to go there twice on our next trip, too!:thumbsup2
:goodvibes

When we were there they had pizza, hot dogs, mac n cheese. Along with the stuff on the Adult buffet. I don't eat seafood and found plenty to eat!

When we were there in February they had pizza, Mac and cheese, and cod nuggets for the kids. My 7 year old loved the seafood but my 10 year old hated most of the kid food. He didn't care for the pizza and wouldn't even try the cod nuggets. The mac and cheese was ok In August we are trying the seafood buffet in the Swan instead.

You made a great choice, LightyearDad. Have a great time.

:)

My husband and I took our then 3 y/o grandson to Cape May last Feb (2012). He found plenty to eat. In fact, since this kid eats very little, I was shocked at just how well he ate that night. For some reason his favorite food that night though was the corn on the cob.:confused3 He ate the piece I had placed on his plate, then my husband and I took turns going up there getting him more and more, and more. I couldn't believe it and thought he was going to pop. That little, squirt (he is very, very tiny for his age) ate like seven ears of corn. I don't know where he put it all as he usually eats very little. (He also ate a little flank steak, green beans, mashed potatoes, nuggets, olives, pineapple, and melon.) Even the waitress was laughing at all the empty corn ears around his plate though. He just grinned back and said, "this is the best corn I've ever eaten in my whole life".:rotfl2::rotfl2: A couple of nights later we were getting dressed to go out to dinner and he asked if we could go to the "corn place" as it was really, really good, much better than the corn cobs here in Texas.:rotfl:

That's so funny. My son isn't a big eater (really picky too). I'm glad to hear that the kids will have lots of options! Thanks everyone.

As everyone else has said, Cape May has plenty of variety for everyone and the kids shouldn't have any trouble finding things to eat :).

We went there in Feb since my hubby loves seafood. I was so skeptical because the kiddos and I are very picky. There was such a great selection and their Mac and cheese is the best.

Also on the swan restaurant how do you make ADR's

It is called Garden Grove. You can make reservations on Disney's website or call Disney just like restaurants in Disney hotels. Each night the buffet has a different theme. Friday is seafood buffet. One night was Mediterranean night, one night was BBQ night, don't remember the other nights. I believe Goofy and Pluto are there most nights also.

We will be celebrating my son's birthday at WDW this year and he has chosen to eat at Cape May Cafe for his birthday dinner. We wanted to order a cake for him to have at Cape May. Here's my question: Does Cape May do their own cakes or will it be from the Beach Club Bakery? (Boardwalk Bakery?)

We just ate at Cape May this evening. There are as many (or more) *regular* dishes on the buffet as seafood.

The children's area had fish nuggets (were very good), mac N cheese, chicken drumsticks, nearby was pizza, chicken dish, corn on cob, potatoes, carved beef, much more that I can't recall. plus the crab legs, fried shrimp (tonight) clams, soup and chowder, and more------. It was all so delicious!!

Cape May has the ubiquitous thawed-from-frozen small cakes available; request them at the check-in podium.

You can usually have a custom cake done by the Boardwalk Bakery (across the lake from the Beach Club) - the bakery has been down for refurb but assuming it's back up and running by your trip then you can do this.

Yacht Club Private Dining may also be able to help - they have helped us get treats for Illuminations cruises in the past.
