Cape Coral on the Gulf Coast

Cape Coral is not on the coast. My grandfather still lives there (he is 103). It is not a far drive to either Fort Myers Beach (maybe 20-30 minutes) or to Sanibel Island (about 30-40 minutes). We always stay on Sanibel when we go to visit. Cape Coral is mostly residential with perhaps a few hotels. You can do a search on google for the Chamber of Commerce for Sanibel Island and you will find a lot of info on places to stay on the island. It is a beautiful place, very relaxing.

I'd change travel agents QUICK. We looked at homes there, no bad to live there but basically NO beach (about 20' section of dirt/sand where river enters bay) and not much as far as activities.

Been there it is nice but I was visiting a friend. It is not what I would call a big vaca spot.

There are plenty of beautiful beach spots on the West Coast of Florida but I wouldn't classify Cape Coral as one of those vacation destinations. In that area try Sanibel or Captiva--further south Naples and further north Sarasota.
It is fun to plan a vacation here in Florida with so many areas to choose from! :cool1:

Thanks,

To be fair I did not ask for a beach, I wanted somewhere I could hire a boat with Gulf access. My agent herself was going to Cape Coral last Spring but had to cancel, I am now totally confused.
