Can't stand mopping, what about water vacuums?

I hate to mop and I have heard there are heated water vacuum type things nowadays. I have tile floors. Can anyone recommend a good brand or product?

I'm not sure about water vacuums...but I have a Scooba which I love. Its from the same company that makes the Roomba. You fill a tank with a mixture of either Clorox and water or vinegar and water. The Scooba go around the room, laying down a thin layer of the cleaning mixture then go about and clean it all up. I use it primarily in my kitchen and it takes about an hour. I will warn you, it can get loud, but I love it! I run my Roombas every day, and the Scooba once a week and its been fantastic.

You will have to clean out the tubes once in a while (I do it everytime I run the Scooba) and there's a separate chamber for the dirty water. I just dump it into the toilet and its all done.

I bought mine as a refurbished product a few years ago. I was skeptical whether I would like it and didn't want to spend a lot lot of money. Its worked fine on its own and I'm so glad I purchased it.

Hope this helps a little. I too hate mopping!

I Have tile floors and use a Hoover Floor Mate. It's a wet/Dry vacum, but it also mop's the floor. It's the best.I bought it 6 yrs.ago,at Target. I hope this helps you!

Folks on amazon seem to like the Eureka enviro cleaner. It's less than $70 right now-I'm tempted.

I have one. DH got it for me last Christmas (it's ok... I asked for one! :lmao:). I love mine. I use it on my kitchen floor and it does a good job. I think I read a review that said it left too much water on the floor, but I don't have that problem at all.

The only thing I would change is that I wish I had more of the cloth pads for it. I only use one each time I mop, but I'm reluctant to wash the dirty one with my towels (I know it all gets clean in a hot wash, but I'm just funny like that), so I'd like to have a few that I could build up before doing a load of just them. Maybe I'll ask for some more of the pads for Christmas this year. :rotfl:

I have one and love it. The house I just moved out of was almost 3000 sq. ft. - no carpeting at all.

Now my two condos are pretty small (~1000 sq. ft) so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I love using my Haan steam cleaner. But the Hoover was better on the tile. It really scrubbed.

We have a Hoover floor mate too and find it does a very good job. I bought it years ago when DD9 was younger to get fingerprints, crumbs, and smeared toddler messes off my wood floors.

I remember my grandmother scrubbing & waxing the wood floors of her home when I was a child, and can't believe how easy it is for me to just add a bit of wood oil soap and see almost instant results. It works fine on our ceramic tile floors too, but it's the wood floors that makes me appreciate it most.:goodvibes

My house is all tile floors. I have the Hoover but don't like it. Leaves too much water and does nothing for the grout.

I now use a Whitewing steam cleaner. Has a big enough tank that I can clean for 2 hours without having to let it cool. It also has attachments for cleaning grout which has brought my floors back to looking brand new.

I got a steam mop from a clearance rack at Macy's after Christmas. I can't remember the brand (something obscure), but it works great and for $20 I'm not complaining.

I have mostly linoleum floors, but 1 tile floor near the front door and it seems to work great on both floor types. I like that the steam actually sanitizes the floor and an added bonus is no chemicals. It pays for itself in no time because I no longer use chemicals on the floor.:thumbsup2

I got one too. I've used it once or twice. The turn off for me was having to replug it 3 different times because i have lots of tile so i need an extension cord. Another thing that bugged me was because i have so much tile I had to refill steam mop three times (hall way by rooms, hallway to kitchen ,walk way from front door to kitchen and kitchen-a lot of tile).

When i have to refill water how long do i have to wait to add the water in? Do i let it cool down or wait until steam doesnt sizzle when i pour water in?

Once i get the extention cord I'll be happy. I'm also hoping with the extention cord and getting a routine hopefully I will only need to refill twice. I loved how easy it was to use, no hard scrubbing or stress on my back. I also liked how clean the floor looked.

If anyone know where i can buy more pads please let me know. BTW Dh bought me one from Best Buy. I requested one for my B-day cuz I hate ringing out the dirty mop-yuck!

I only have the one small area to mop, so I've never had to refill it during mopping. But from what I've read on other sites, you don't have to wait to refill it, the sizzling is fine, but you do still have to wait about 3-4 minutes for the new water to heat up before continuing on.

HTH. :)

I have had a steam mop for 3 - 4 years now, and I really like it. I fill it with water, plug it in, and I am ready to mop in no time. I have tile in the entry, down the hall to to dinette & kitchen, and in the short hall from the dinette to the laundry room & master. I do not have to refill it while mopping, and I usually have about 1/3 of the water container full when I finish. I do have to unplug it once while mopping - I usually start in the kitchen area and work my way towards the dinette, short hallway and towards the front door. It has a long cord, but I still have to switch outlets as I get close to the front door.

Mine is a Reliable T1 Steamboy, or something very similar. I bought it online, and just searched for Reliable & T1.

I have the Eureka EnviroSteamer and I absolutely love it. Bought it based on the good reviews on Amazon about 6 months ago and it's been nothing but great. It's so much better than mopping. I feel like my floors are getting cleaned, not getting cleaner all over them.
