Well...it's now 12:05 A.M. and the megaphone at Epcot for the 1/2 marathon is still going strong. Not very good planning on Disney's part to run this thing at 10:00 P.M. There are people trying to sleep.

Oh no :( Major bummer! :( Sometimes things like that can happen. We were staying at the GF one year and they were having some kind of private party for the PGA golfers at MK. It resulted in fireworks going off well after midnight. Scared the crap out of our kids (they were toddlers at the time) and we had no advance warning it was going to happen. I would make sure you tell the resort manager what an inconvenience this was for you.

Marathons always make some noise, but there aren't that many of them. They bring in a lot of money to Disney, so some guests (especially those that wanted to watch the Epcot fireworks from their balcony at BC and BCV) are going to hear some noise. Better just one night than every single day, all day long into the late evening hours, at BLT.

Most of the marathons start around 5:30AM. This one and maybe one other start at night. And the party at Epcot goes until 4AM after this race. We might be there next year for the F&W Half Marathon.

Great planning on Disney's part, nice weather at night to run in and no sun. Had a great time. If you plan on coming this particular weekend perhaps you should not stay in one of the Epcot resorts

Did you go to the party? How was it? We're thinking of doing this next year.

We went to the party. Very lively all of the F&W booths were open, some of the lines were pretty long though.

We were at BCV in late June one year. We faced towards Epcot. Well, when we got back to our villa, fairly late, we noticed there was a message on our phone. It was BC telling us that there would be testing of the July 4 fireworks at Epcot around 2am that night!!! I can only imagine those poor people that didn't see the message light blinking!!
We had a pretty good view of them....it was incredible, but loud!!! At least they told us about it. I imagine that if the wind is blowing in your direction, the noise would be even worse.

What is bad is when you can only hear the fireworks and not see them at all. That's what we have had a BCV and BLT. For some reason at BLT, when you are in the inner C, you hear all the MK fireworks like they are right outside your window. But they are on the other side of the building.

This is why I love the resorts not right next to a park, peace and quiet. :goodvibes

But even at OKW, you can hear the starting fireworks for the marathon in January. But, usually, I'm up anyway for that.

Wow, I never heard of a marathon starting that late!

We were able to see a special fireworks for a private party at midnight from MK one night staying at Poly, loved it!
