Why can't the FP+ window open at MK park opening time instead of park closing? This is a small change that I don't think would inconvenience too many people. I know a lot won't agree, but I just don't understand the Midnight or 1 am ritual. I feel like there's a lot of people at Disney wwho are saying, " Ok, let's see if these fools will jump through these hoops"
It really wouldn't be any more fair. And it would be 7 or 8 or 9 hours later than it is now.
I think it is Disney just permitting access ASAP per their calendar. But it is not an obligatory exercise. We do fine by not staying up or getting up at midnight. (I happened to be up last night and was ready to give it a try but was too tired to stay up until 1am when I discovered that was needed.)
I do appreciate Mesaboy reporting on the closure time affecting when the window opens.
Anyway--what may be more convenient to those on the east coast, may not be more convenient to those traveling from
Other parts of then out the and the world.
I agree that Mesaboy's thread is great, but why has Disney created a system that is so cumbersome that a thread like this is needed for people to understand the system?
If one goal was to make this easier for the casual guest isn't requiring them to seek out forums such as this a bit odd? In my opinion Disney themselves should post the information and people shouldn't have to rely on fan websites. I even talk to people daily who don't even use the Internet! (Yes, I find that incredible in this day and age.)This forum has been around a long time and it's always been needed to get the information you need to get the most out of your Disney vacation. This isn't anything new just since the beginning of FP+. If one wants to search back, there are pages and pages of questions about all sorts of things. WDW is a pretty big, complicated place to visit and if you want the most out of it, you have to do some research. I'm sure that's true of other locations as well.
Is that a fact included with the Disney literature regarding how to book FP+?ugh it kills me that people "hate FP+" for simply exisitng.
when MK is open until 1am FP+ does not open until 1am.
JS.
How many first time visitors actually visit the Dis? I'd wager a guess probably not all that many.Mesaboy's thread is full of tips including when to hop on when the parks close at 1am. Today's date was included. No secret handshake required.
When was your last visit? You speak in hyperbole an awful lot that makes me think you have yet to try the system.

Wow, I thought Mesaboy's FP+ thread was created to answer questions about FP+. You're saying it was created before FP+? What was it addressing at that point? This forum has been around a long time and it's always been needed to get the information you need to get the most out of your Disney vacation. I don't think that FP+ is exactly the same. How many people show up at WDW not even knowing that FP+ exists? I'm sure that they all know that they will need to eat or sleep somewhere. This forum
Is what I said, and yes there have been stickies for years on the best way to do this, that or the other. I'd bet my last Disney dollar that if some new thing comes up at WDW this board with be flooded with how to's about it. The fact that someone was nice enough to take the time to explain intricate details- while nice to know and very helpful in getting absolutely the most value you can- is nice, but not neccesary in order to schedule fp+. You can learn what you need to know thru Disney. The OP got her SDMT fp with only 30 days out. Sounds like a success in the end to me.
Making a reservation on site isn't terribly difficult but we have a whole section dedicated to nothing but that. Without this forum, I wouldn't know what the "bears face" is or that it's the very best location to have at the Wilderness Lodge. Does that mean Disney made staying at the Wilderness Lodge cumbersome?

I still think that Disney should provide more information when it can. Obviously, it can't do much for those who buy tickets at the gate but it could help others more.
As I said, you can't do much for people who just show up. However there could be more data on their website and they could also send better literature to those who order tickets from them. There were people who had no clue paper fastpasses existed. ( shocking, but true)
What are your suggestions for guest education since you find what Disney is doing as lacking?

Here are my ideas:As I said, you can't do much for people who just show up. However there could be more data on their website and they could also send better literature to those who order tickets from them.
Here are my ideas:
1. When people register their upcoming trip and tickets in MDE , they are provided the exact date and time(EST) that they will be able to make their reservations.
2. When you are making your FP + reservations all available times for a specific attraction are available, so that you don't have to keep going back and forth between your attractions to tweak everything.
3. ADR window and FP+ window open on the same day so that people can easily plan everything at once.
It's not a lot, but it would make a big difference.
I wasn't referring to the forum in my previous post , and you know that. I was speaking specifically of Mesaboy's FP+ thread. You know, the one about FP+'s, the one that was named Thread of the Year on the boards? If FP+ were so straight forward, why is this thread needed?

Noon would be terrible for people who work and aren't free to spend time scheduling fp+'s. There's really not a great time that works for everyone. Personally, 5 am works for me- it's about the time I get up every morning- but I'm betting a lot of people wouldn't like that either.
