can't leave World Showcase country w/drink in hand?

You cannot bring a drink from Epcot through the International Gateway to the Epcot Disney Resorts.

Who sips their drink so slowly it would last from one country to the next? That's why they have drinks in every country.;)

If you buy a bottle of wine at Epcot, you aren't supposed to open it, but you can carry it around the park with you. As long as it is sealed and not open, you can carry it out of the park. But you will not be permitted to carry it into another park.

When we were there on our last visit, we purchased some Rosa Regale from Italy, and they replaced the bare bottle we brought to the checkout with a boxed bottle, complete with a seal over the flap (the seal itself told us not to open it inside Epcot).

We spend a lot of time in Epcot WS and have never had any problems walking around with drinks in hand. Otherwise how would you drink around the world?:lmao:

Some places, like Germany, will give you a to go sippy cup so you can take the drink with you. DH & I have experience with this after getting the full stein & not wanting to waste it. You just have to ask - most are very accommodating.

As for leaving & entering the park...refillable mugs come in very handy:cool1: we call it our happy juice mugs - even at home :rotfl2:

My philosophy is, as long as you're not falling to the ground drunk & being a nuisance they won't bug you. ;)

Is it or was it ever a rule that you can't leave a country in the World Showcase with a drink in hand? Like if you buy a drink in France, you can't walk to the U.K.?

I've never seen that happen but somebody tells me it happened to them in the late 90s.

Exactly how would that have worked?

Would there be border guards and one of those gates with the weight on the end between countries? You know the one that always gets crashed through. :goodvibes

This is a joke we told as CPs. You "can't move countries" with a drink in your hand because it is "transporting alcohol into another country" and you need to "pay a tax."

I may (or may not have ;) ) brought a frozen margerita into the parks in a water bottle :cool1: that may or may not have been made in the blender in my room :)

It's not a rule in effect now. I quite enjoyed drinking my margarita from Mexico while I sat in Norway watching Illuminations. :-)

I got a Grand Mariner (spelling?) in France last time. I walked all the way through EPCOT with it (I am not a big drinker). Just before we were leaving the park, I was told I had to finish my drink or throw it out. I finished in quickly, because I wanted the plastic glass. I didn't re-use or keep the glass, but for some reason I didn't want to throw it away. Samantha Brown loves this drink at EPCOT, and I had to try it too!!

Each of the Parks (including the water parks) has their own "on-premises" liquor license, just as any public bar or restaurant. You are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages in or remove them.

Additionally, Epcot has an "off-premises" license so unopened bottles can be sold there and taken out of the Park.

I was in WDW until Tuesday and every time I brought a grey goose slushie no one stopped me leaving France and walking to future world with one.

I can tell you that's not true. Hell - how would I make it around World Showcase without a beer I bought when I first got there? That's my favorite part of Disney World - walking all around the World with a beer and just people watching. Bud Lite, $5.50 at the Promenade Refreshment or a margarita from Mexico (depends on the season and my mood) and off I go.

World Showcase doesn't have international borders.

Love that.. No borders.. lol...

But it's true.. and my hazy recollection of an afternoon with a margarita is how *I* know. The OP said late 90's, right? I was in college then, living just 40 mins away, and we had APs. There was an afternoon with a bunch of us, out celebrating, I know for certain there was one of those big rainbow margaritas bought, and then we quickly realized that we had ADRs at the Brown Derby. I may or may not have chugged the margarita while "walking at a brisk pace" (cause no running allowed) towards IG and then running down to the BC/YC boat launch to try to make it to HS in time for dinner. I did not get ill, fortunately, but dinner was a HOOT!

I just love Rosa Regale.. :p :lovestruc :p

Bring a mug to Epcot. You can put your Grey Goose Slushie in it. No spilling out of the chintzy shallow plastic cup and you can take that sucker back to the BC with you to enjoy by the pool.
Holy crap, why didn't I think of that? I need to remember to bring a mug this year, not to take it out of the park but just so I don't have to hurry up and drink half of it to avoid spilling it. Those glasses are so not designed for walking.

Never heard that one before. My brother bought sake from a Japanese drink stall and continued drinking it through America and Italy (it was quite strong, lol).
