Cant decide between CBR and POFQ !

I haven't stayed at CBR, but I can definitely give POFQ a big "thumbs up!"

It's a small resort (smallest of the moderates), so it doesn't take long to get anywhere at the resort. It's also the first pick-up and drop-off on the bus route, so we always got seats on the bus (if that matters to you).

It's a very pretty resort. I don't think you'd be disappointed if you chose it.

Thanks everyone for you opinions, I'm still undecided only because I like the fact that POFQ is easy to get around and I like the pool and hot tubs at CBR. My DGD loves to swim and I love the hot tub. I also like the looks and size of POFQ. If only POFQ had a nicer pool and hot tub.

Have stayed at both and really like POFQ the best.

I think alot of people like POFQ better from what I have read in other posts and polls. Then again adding up the prices on the Disney site it is a little cheaper to stay at POFQ garden view than CBR preferred room which is what room types we would choose.

You will LOVE POFQ! ::yes::
My hubby and I just loved it there. Besides being beautiful and quaint, the bus situattion is a HUGE draw too! One bus stop, and we were always able to get on, and were able to sit on the bus every time except one trip where we had to stand. When I'd looked at other busses for other resorts they were always so packed, but since POFQ is a small resort and they no longer share busses with POR, there is never an issue with transport (at least not that we observed!) Plus the riverboat is convenient to travel to DD (we never got around to it though.)

I as actually bummed that POFQ was booked up for Sept when we are going, BUT since it was booked, and since we could get a really good off season deal, we decided to try a Deluxe out for the first time, so I can't really complain too much, but what I will gain from the Deluxe perks, I am definitely going to lose in transportation convienience since we're staying at AKL.
Oh well, the resort is stunning though! :goodvibes

We've stayed at both and would absolutely recommend POFQ over CBR. Size is certainly a factor, but the POFQ grounds and room condition are huge selling points.

We stayed at POFQ last week and the bus situation varied - direct to the parks in the early morning, but otherwise shared with POR (that's an additional 4 stops!) But I still think the POFQ bus situation is better than CBR. The recently renovated POFQ rooms are in great condition. And I initially thought the masks in the food court would be bothersome, but I didn't even notice them. As for the pools, it's true that POFQ is relatively crowded - but that was our experience at CBR, too. Funny thing is that I would actually prefer a beach theme over a New Orleans theme - but I rank POFQ far higher than CBR.

Good luck with your decision!

I can't comment on Port Orleans French Quarter since we haven't been there. We've stayed at the CBR multiple times in both preferred and non-preferred rooms. To us, the size of the resort is not an issue since the longest walk we have ever had to Old Port Royale (main pool, marina, food court, etc.) was just 5 minutes and that's from one of the furthest rooms in Jamaica. The walks are easy and the resort is gorgeous to look at. We once booked a preferred room because that's all there was that was left when I book and then we were once given a free upgrade. Yes, the walks were shorter but, like I said, walking at the CBR isn't a big deal to us.

My son was just 8 (now about to turn 15) when we started staying at the CBR and he thoroughly enjoys the resort's main pool as well as the quiet pools and beaches. Last year, we rented both a surrey bike and a single bicycle and he rode around the resort almost a dozen times.

As far as the buses go, we have never had an issue with waiting for them or the actual ride times. We've been at various times in May (including Memorial Day and Star Wars Weekends), early August and mid-August and the bus system has been efficient during each trip. The longest wait we ever had was about 25 minutes and that was when my husband slept in, ate lunch at the resort and met us at Hollywood Studios early afternoon (not peak getting to the park time). I actually timed our rides from the time we sat down on the bus in Jamaica, made our way to the other bus stops and then pulled into the bus stop at the parks. The times were: 11 minutes to HS; 10 & 11 minutes to Epcot (we went multiple times); 13 to 16 minutes to MK (we went multiple times). I can't remember the time to the AK but it was 15 minutes or less. Of course, if the bus driver has to assist someone in a wheelchair or on a scooter, it took longer but that would be the case at any resort.

During our 6 stays at the CBR, we've tried out many of the food options in the food court. There are several sections to choose from and the layout is such that your group can split up and still easily find one another and meet up at the register. Our favorite food choices were the reuben sandwich, the fresh tossed chicken ceasar salad, the tomato basil soup, the baked penne pasta, pizza and the fresh baked items in the grab-n-go section.

I hope that this helps in your decision making process. If you have any specific CBR questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them for you.

LOVE CBR!!! We got preferred room and was right on top of the bus stop and the pool and food court. Place is gorgeous! Didnt much care for POFQ. Wouldnt go back there. But loved CBR. We thought the buses could be more ridiculous at POFQ than CBR. We never waited more than 10mins at CBR.
:thumbsup2

I'd choose POFQ in a heartbeat over CBR.

Nothing against CBR, but POFQ is my favorite.

Smallest of all the WDW resorts, quaint, picturesque, quiet, recently refurbished, nice food court, and if you want a little more variety, just a hop skip and a jump from POR, where they have a nice food court, as well.

I personally prefer POFQ over CBR. I think it's more because of the theme. I like the New Orleans look. I have never been to NO, but have seen many pictures of it, and this is as close as I am going to get with New Orleans. :) CBR never grew on me. I enjoy the relaxing boat ride to DTD. The resort is so small that I don't think there is such thing as preferred room. I just love everything about POFQ! You have to try their beignets! Great for breakfast and for snack time! :thumbsup2

This is driving me crazy ! I still cannot decide between POFQ and CBR ! I have been thinking on this for a couple weeks and I still cant make up my mind :headache: The others in my group are no help they will go to either :confused3

having just come back from CBR with a 9 year old, I'll give my opinion - if you stay in a preferred room then it will also be easy to "get around" b/c you'll be close to everything you need to be close to (the pool, hot tubs, food court, gift shop, bus stops, the bridge that connects to the other side, if you just want to walk around the paths off the bridge). I don't think there will be any need for you to "get around" to the other parts of the resort as it's just more rooms. I think your DGD will like the pool way better at the CBR and you'll have 2 hot tubs to choose from. :thumbsup2

Yes the pool looks great and I know my DGD will love it ! I also love the hot tubs ! I still go back to the photos of POFQ and really like it too, except the Mardi Gra decorations. One thing that I dont like about CBR is the full size beds, but we can bring a twin size blow up mattress. Still cant decide, every time I think I have decided and made up my mind, the next day I change my mind back to the other :rotfl:
