Can't book sameday FP even after using 1st one??

I have had the situation the OP talks about happen to me - not being able to book a 4th FP+ for any park (original or different)

It was back in June when 4 of us were touring together - 2 of them decided to skip their fastpasses and hang by the pool
DD and I went to MK and used our FP+ - we were unable to book a 4th no matter what we tried
I attributed it to the fact that the other 2 never entered the park with us and never cancelled their FP+ (just my theory since this was around the time Disney was instituting policies about catching fastpass overbooking)

Could it have something to do with a FP becoming an anytime FP if the ride is down? Would that prevent someone from booking the other park FP, even if the anytime was used? Not sure if that’s the case here but sometimes those anytime FPs make things weird.

Definitely must be a glitch today because I know it has worked for MickeyMinnieMom in the past.

The strategy worked twice for me in October as well - booked 2 FP in one park for the morning, was able to book a third in a different park once we tapped in for the first one..
