Help:confused:

i have tried to book 2 nights at HRH in a deluxe room for Jan 4th and 5th but I can only get a room for the 4th, the 5th is booked out completely at both PBH and HRH (I have even been speaking with the reservations manager and she has confirmed both hotels are booked solid for that night).

My problem is I can get a room at RPR but my children are DS14 and DD12
and I don't really want them to share a bed. I have been told that the rooms at RPR are too small to have a rollaway.
So do I book only one night at HRH (4th)and try and do everything in 2 days or do I book RPR (with a rollaway)or do I wait and hope that a HRH room becomes available on the 5th.

My only other problem is trying to do everything in 2 days because we will be really tired (we have a 26 hour flight from Sydney:confused: ) so the 3 days would definetly be better

Are the RPR rooms really that small or will be OK

Any help or ideas would be appreciated:flower3:

While they are the smallest, I'm sure it's "doable"...besides, you are going to be at the parks...right? You want to see it all and with your room key EP, you will be able to. Unless you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, you CAN do it....with kids that age, it might be a "little tight", but when we go, we only really sleep and shower in the room.... You can get a rollaway for an extra $25/nite (i think) if they don't want to sleep together...but that will make the room "tighter" too. They have the deluxe rooms at RPR and a standard at PBH will be bigger than a standard at RPR...

Thanks Bubbas mom,

I didn't know that RPR had deluxe rooms, I may try to get one of those if they are bigger.
PBH is also booked out for the night of the 5th-no rooms of any type available, so that is not an option either.
i can't believe how hard this.
We really want to stay onsite to get the Express pass, just so it will be that bit more enjoyable.

Thanks again:flower3:

To give you an idea of the difference, the rooms at RPR are 335 sq feet, while the standard rooms at HRH are 375 sq feet and the deluxe double queen is 500sq feet. Except for the suites, I don't believe there is any difference in size between the gardenview, poolview or royal club rooms at RPR, so reserving a premium room there won't give you any extra space (somebody correct me if I am wrong :teeth:.)

No doubt about it, the deluxe rooms at HRH are much larger and more comfortable for a family with teens. However, that said, we have put a family of 5 (with 2 teens and a big for his age elementary school kid) numerous times in an RPR room. We usually just packed a twin aerobed for one kid. It fit just fine between the one queen bed and the window - in the dotted space around the chair in the floorplan below. The nice thing about the air mattress is that you can deflate it during the day and recoup that space. And an aerobed packs nicely in the corner of a suitcase. But a rollaway also fits snugly in that space.

The room was a bit cramped but completely doable. Most of our vacations are 7 days or more, so we survived happily for over a week. The only reason we don't stay there anymore is that they don't have the Platinum suite upgrades for a family of 5.

Consequently PBH has become our new home. But we loved the RPR and never felt like we were going to go crazy with 5 people in one room. You should be fine for a night. In fact, I would probably book 2 nights at RPR (keep the HRH reservation just in case something opens up), just so that I wouldn't have to move hotels.

I'm confused. I've been waiting for 2008 rates to come out to book the same room you are looking for on January 5th and 6th. You can't book these rooms online yet even through Loews. I know last year there were rooms available to book into December. It's hard to imagine both resorts sold out by people calling in and not booking online. Is there some kind of event going on? I'll be heartbroken if we can't get into HRH.

Don't be heartbroken yet. Rooms are loaded into the system only through February of '08 at this point. The rest of the year should be in the system shortly.

I am trying to make reservations for end of March '08. I have been in contact with the rooms mgr at PBH. She is tracing my reservation and has been sending me regular updates to let me know that the rooms still are not available to book. Her last e-mail was a couple of weeks ago to let me know that they anticipate the rest of 2008 to be loaded sometime in August.

So, hang in there and keep checking.

I'm looking for days in Feb '08 and I keep getting the message that no rooms are available at any of the resorts. I thought this was because the dates haven't been released yet, but according to goofy! the rooms should be available. Which is right???

Thanks!

I have been in contact with the reservations manager about this ( I have been calling from Australia and she was trying to help me:) ).
The rooms have been released only to the 7th Jan. Rates for the rest of the year will be out shortly.

BUT HRH and PBH are fully booked for the 5th Jan -all rooms all categories.

We really wanted to stay at HRH but the reservation manager told me to book RPR because that is all they have left for that weekend (There is a major convention on) She said that rooms may become available at a later date.

We have also tried to book CR at Disney and they are also full for that weekend.
Still deciding what to do

That was what I was told - rooms are available through early Feb. I haven't actually checked myself as I am waiting for end March. Have you tried calling Loews and see if you can book that way? You will probably be booking at rack rate, but you can change it once the '08 rates are set.

I believe several people here have reported that they have their Feb. Reservations.

I will post as soon as I get the e-mail that the rooms are in the system.

This was my last e-mail from the rooms MGR:

Buon Giorno Signora XXXXX!

I just wanted to contact you and keep you up to date on our system. As of
today, July 18, 2007, our rates are not loaded onto our reservation system
as of yet. I will keep tracing your request and I will keep you
up-to-date.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Grazie!

Hmmm, we have a reservation for March 08 for HRH. I was mailed a paper confirmation, and charged a deposit.

Mainebound - I would assume that you just called the hotel directly to get your March '08 reservation?

We called the 1-888 number we found at the Universal Orlando website.

Hopefully, we can get the rate lowered when AAA rates are loaded into the system.

The Hard Rock may already be updated. According to Loews Management, the updates were supposed to happen in July and August. Portofino, which I am looking at, is not in the system as of yet.

Not saying this is what you have, but I have a 'temporary' reservation offered at 2007 rack rates. You can get these by calling directly into Loews. However, as I understand it, Loews reserves the right to update my rate to '08 rates if they want to. My reservation is being 'traced' by Loews and I will be informed when it is official, IE when the rates are in the system and my reservation has been officially entered and is set.

However, I am not concerned so much over the rate, as I will most likely change my rate to AAA or super saver or whatever special they offer between now and March.

I am not sure what I have, but my letter is on Univrsal Orlando letterhead with a reservation number and they charged me a deposit. That seems pretty much like an actual reservation to me!

I did call yesterday to see about AAA rates and was told "mid-September". Just wanted to add another bit of possibly misleading info! ;)
