Canon PowerShot G9

Hi Disers!

I'm looking at the Canon PowerShot G9 and read some good reviews on dpreview and photoblog. But also feel the best people to ask are those who have actually use/used the camera.
my previous camera was a Panasonic Lumix LX2 which offered alot but wa disappointed in the noise, blur and nightshots (eg illuminations at EPCOT). curious to know what the Canon PowerShot G9 is like?
i know for the best shots you need a slr but i'm not as 'savvy' in photography to justify one.
your thoughts are appreciated

If you go back to Dpreview and to the canon talk forum you will find people using the g9.

Just look for mention of the
G9 in the message thread.

I do not know about your prices over there, but there are multiple DSLRs at the same price as the G9 over here. Also, all entry level DSLRs have full auto. As long as there are not other reasons for not wanting a DSLR (size, weight, etc.), then I just do not see going with the G9.

I also second looking into an entry level dslr, they will give you the best pictures and have a fully automatic mode and then you can get more adventurous as you learn. Good luck with your decision.
