this is the beginning stages of a DIS meet there. I need some suggestions of when to have the DIS meet, late june? early july? august?...this would be a great idea to meet DIS members from NH, MA, ME and other New England states. :teeth: :goodvibes

Cool. We haven't been to Canobie Lake Park in a long time. August would be great for us, but July wouldn't be bad either. We'll be in WDW in late June, so that's out for us.

What a great idea! I'd never get to a meet in downtown Boston at night, but this sounds like great fun! Flexible about month.

I agree, August is the best month...I'm usually too busy at work in June and July to go anywhere! Now, where again is Canobie Lake Park? I see the commercials, but being a South Shore brat, never go anywhere else.

August is fine with me too, Canobie Lake Park is located in Salem, NH...right near the MA/NH border.

here are some directions from the canobie lake park website...

From Boston: Take I-93 North to Exit 2 in Salem, NH. Bear right off exit, left at lights onto North Policy St.1 mile to Canobie Lake Park.
From Nashua and southern NH: Take Route 111 east into Windham, take a left at the golf driving range, go 1.5 miles, then right onto North Policy Street to Canobie Lake Park.
From Maine/NH Seacoast: Take I-95 South to Route 495 South to Route 213 West to Route 93 North to Exit 2 in Salem, NH. Or take Route 111 West from Exeter NH to North Policy Street, 500 yards west of Route 28.
From Rhode Island: Take I-95 North to I-93 North to Exit 2 in Salem, NH
From Worcester MA: Take Route 495 North to I-93 North to Exit 2 in Salem, NH
From Hartford: Take Route 84 North to Route 90 East (Mass Pike), to Route 495 North to I-93 North to Exit 2 in Salem, NH
From New York City: Find Hartford Conn., then see above.

Approximate driving times:

35 minutes north of BOSTON, MA

35 minutes south of CONCORD, NH

40 minutes southwest of PORTSMOUTH, NH

50 minutes north of WORCESTER, MA

75 minutes north of PROVIDENCE, RI

This would be a good location for us....and I haven't been to CLP in years!

July or Aug would probably be more "open" for us...I'll keep my eye on this thread to see what evolves :)

Any time is good for us. I live 15-20 minutes away. At least me, Grumpylilsis, and my DD will be there.

Just an fyi. On mothers day and fathers day you get in free with a paying child. They have a free lunch that goes along with it.

Every time we decide to go, it decides to rain!!!! But it is worth it.

Canobie Lake sounds like great fun. I haven't been there since I was about 10 years old. July would be tough but August is a clean calender at this point.

i would definetly do this
i havent been in about 2 or 3 years as we went to six flags last year with the kids
i love canobie specially the old white wooden coaster

We would be interested... although dh's family has a work picnic there every year that we all go to for discount prices, usually end of July so I guess it would be a timing thing for us.... speaking of which, I think you can get a group rate, if not, I think I have access to discount tickets if that becomes of interest later on in the planning stages.

DIS meet at CLP sounds like fun. July or August sound good. June is not a great time as the kids get out towards the end of June and we usually go to Maine after that. Sounds like fun!

I've never been to a dis meet. Sounds like fun to me. I love CLP. August would be best for us. Now, I have to think about how to get DH to go along with it. He tends to be weird about meeting strangers. I guess I'll just have to get him on the disboards so he doesn't consider anyone strangers. :goodvibes

If the dates are ok w/our plans we can definately meet at Canobie Lake Park!
keep us posted please
DS13 & I usually visit CLP once each summer

what dates are ppl away? maybe we should start a list with dates that are not so good

We're going camping July 1-5 (maybe on way home), NH beaches July 21-27 (maybe on way home), WDW Aug 13-27
the rest of the summer Im working M-F so wknds would be better

HI All

I liked seeing this thread at the top of the heap!!!

Deesknee, I know what you mean about hubbies being leary. We did the 10 day holiday cruise this past year and we had a huge number of DIS'ers on board. We coordinated with DCL to sit together for dinner, had t-shirts & pins made, wine parties, photo shoot, ornament exchange and tons of other stuff. Hubby called us the "cult". But in the end he said, I am so glad you did that, cause we met so many nice people and no matter where went on the ship you almost always knew someone at least enough to smile and say hello. :grouphug:

Is someone stepping up to coordinate dates? I would be willing to help in any way (calling CLP for group rates) or help with planning anything for that matter. Please pm me if you need some help.

Our summer schedule (so far)...White Mountains June 17-July 1 (Grand Summit at Attitash), Williamsburg, VA July 17-23, camping August 2-5 or 6 and a neighborhood progressive cookout August 27, rain date 28.

Oh boy, now that I have it written down, what was I thinking? :confused3 I am only about 50 mins so if it is on a day that I am not away, I'm definately in!!

Have a Great Easter Weekend

My DD and I would love to meet up with all of you this summer! We went up there for the 1st time last summer with my SIL and cousins, what a nice park!!! Let us know the dates ::MinnieMo princess:

:Pinkbounc Bumping us back up. August is a great month for us at this point. Anyone else out there interested??
