Crud.
I have loved my Cannon Powershot (SD880 IS Digital Elph). Loved it. Recommended it to others. It's been about 13 months since we got it. Ugh. The lens is protruding and stuck. I was taking pictures and all of a sudden I got a, "lens error, restart camera" message at the bottom of the screen. The camera will not restart. The lens will not retract. Darn it.
I've researched the problem some and have found that a number of others have had this problem. Has anyone here experienced it? If so, were you able to fix it, or did you have it repaired? I read that the repair can be costly (one quote was about 1/2 the cost of the camera) and the problem can crop up again.
Luckily I have a back up camera, but it looks like if I can't get this problem fixed I'll be in the market for another. Drat.
Thoughts?

Not sure what I'll do at this point. I'm using an old Cannon I had prior to this incident. Too much going on with the ramp up of school starting.
