Candlelight Processional Dinner - Watching & Waiting

We did Biergarten last year and the inflated prices was SO not worth it, even though DD's chicken nuggets were flown special in from the USA. ;) Am hoping for Le Cellier or Rose and Crown this year.

Just curious about something.

It seems many of my fellow DISers are rising early to try to get the CPP. I wonder what dates people are trying to book. We're going on December 30, and I guess I just assume we'll get it since the Christmas holiday will be over by then. :confused3

I figure that I get auto-notifications of this thread, so if someone posts that they were able to book, I'll be notified and can make the call.

I by no means think it's wrong for those of you calling daily to do so; I just don't feel the pressure to do so, and I'm wondering if that's because I'm being naive or if people's travel dates are influencing that choice.

I agree. :confused3

DH and I went last year and I don't remember standing in line for an hour and a half. Is the wait really that long?

I think it depends on when you go. If you're trying to go on a popular night (Christmas Eve, Christmas, some weekends) then people start lining up in the dining package line up to an hour and a half early. On slower nights, I think you can wait in line less and still get a good seat. :)

Here we go again! :) I have to be up for work this early this morning, though, so this one doesn't hurt quite as much.

I was told, "Not yet" this morning so back to bed I go!:sad1:

CM Buck just said it could be as late as the third week of August.

Jeez loueez! I hope Buck, if that is his real name, was just messing with you. I mean, come on Buck-o, be a little more positive in the responses here and tell us how "early" it could be and not how "late" it could be. :)

My guess is that they won't release the dates until they confirm all the narrators. Many folks make a reservation based on who it is, specially those paying out of pocket.

CM Carrie is still saying "end of July", but I have zero confidence in that info, because when I asked if she had new info on when Hacienda would be opening she told me, "Sept. 16, but you won't need reservations for that. It's going to be a QS place only." I repeated the name Hacienda in case she thought I had said Cantina, but she stuck to her "No TS, only QS" info for Hacienda. Maybe I should have explained that I think Hacienda is the side of the restaurant that seats 250, will be open for dinner only, and will serve things like flank steak with cactus leaves, grilled red snapper, and mixed grill for two, featuring grouper, shrimp and scallops; (That doesn't sound like any QS place that I know of.) Not wanting to make her feel foolish, I just thanked her and hung up, but it's a shame to think that she could give that kind of wrong info out to others who don't know any better. :sad2:

i don't understand how the package seating works. what are the tiers like?
should i pay more for a specific tier?
my mom, brother and i are going 12/3 and want the early (5) show. we've never been to the CP so we are very excited.
any advice?

If I understand correctly, the early show will be a Lunch (less expensive) the tiers have always related to your choice of restaraunt. You can look at the information for 2009 and that will probably give you a sense even if it doesn't have this year's prices.

HTH

CM told me just now to look for fall discounts first then CP near the end of August .....?????

CM Bogart told me "end of July/early August--but I wouldn't waste your time trying to call until Monday or Tuesday."

So, is the CP really that good? The reason I ask is that my husband is REALLY balking at using 2 TS credits for CP.

Please note - This is the 2009 package information!!

http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/candlelight_processional.htm#dine

If you use any ddp it required 2 TS credits regardless of which show and which restaurant you selected. If you are paying out of pocket the prices listed were as listed in the chart.

Ok, I'll sleep late tomorrow-this will guarantee that the packages open up tomorrow! :rotfl2:

Tiers are based on typical cost of meals at each restaurant. Also have different prices whetehr it would be for lunch (5 PM show) or dinner.

I would suggest reconsidering the early show. It's not dark yet at 5 so the candlight part of the processional is not as impressive as when it is dark.
