When will narrators and dinner packages be available? Will they for sure be out by the 180 day mark? We want to do the package for Christmas Eve and that is probably a tough date to book so I want to be sure to make every effort!

I don't think they're typically available for booking at the 180 day mark, but I could be wrong since I haven't done it since 2007. They're generally pretty slow to announce the narrators, and those often ending up having changes anyway.

They set aside tables for the packages but they don't release them for reservations until summer. Last year was July 7th. I was there December 5 to 11, they didn't announce the narrator for the end days of my trip until a short time before. Turned out to be someone I never heard of (Anne?). I ended up getting a standby seat about 15 minutes before the last show.

No, they won't announce the narrators before 180 days out. They likely won't announce any of them that early. Some won't be announced until two weeks before it starts.

If you want to go on Christmas Eve, it doesn't really matter, does it? Book it. If the narrator is so off-putting that you won't go, just cancel it.

In 2015 packages and narrators were listed by Disney on July 7. A number of the narrators were still TBD and were filled in later.

I agree that if you are going Christmas Eve, the narrator will be pretty much irrelevant. And yes, you can cancel if you don't like the narrator. But it is possible that you will have awhile after July before you find out who the narrator will be.

I'm actually not that concerned about the narrator, more just snagging a dining package. We have been to WDW more times than I can count and never have done Candlelight. It is just dh and me and we will only be at Epcot the one day (or any park for that matter...passing through in our way home from a cruise). That is the one thing we can count on to do with the crowds as long as we have dining package.

Can this be booked online? We are on the dining plan, do they take any form of payment at the time of booking?

Yes you can book online. You pay at the restaurant and that is when you get your sticker with your show time. You do give cc info to hold the ressie but can use whatever you want there.
