I am looking into doing both for our December trip? Any insight, experiences or planning help. It will be me, my husband and our 1.5 year old!

Are you talking about doing both on the same night? You actually could if you were to do the first CP show of the night, but I wouldn't recommend it, especially with a little one. If you're just talking about doing both on the same trip, then sure, I've done both on the same trip; when I go in December I want to do all the special Christmas activities. I don't do a park on the day I do the party, but instead I tour the deluxe resorts to check out their Christmas decorations, although I don't think I'd suggest that with the little one. I think your best bet would be to take it easy on your party day, and maybe do a character meal at Chef Mickey's before heading over to the party (which I like to do as well.) I would highly recommend doing the CP dining package to ensure getting a seat, and doing the first show, again for the little one's sake.

I did both in one trip, although not on the same night. I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't gotten pneumonia, but even then it was pretty cool.

We always do both but not on the same night. If your little one sits well or tires easily, I would choose your time for CP based on your little ones schedule. The program is nearly an hour long. I would strongly recommend the dinner package for CP. you have to eat anyway and it beats waiting in line half the afternoon for a seat. If you plan to MVMCP, I would recommend a late morning and an easy day. The party ticket allows you in the park at 4pm and the park is open until midnight.

We were planning on doing two separate days! Great idea to do the hotels or a fun character meal before the party! Question we are doing five day park hopper tickets for our trip, should I switch to four days if we do the party? Does that make sense? As for the candle light how do the dinner plans work can you book them the same way you book ADRs? I feel totally Christmas clueless! :confused3

Your MVMCP tickets will allow you in after 4:00. If you want to get into park before 4:00, you need a regular ticket.

The Candlelight Processional packages are a special reservation, not a regular dinner reservation. Last year you could do it online. They will make an announcement on the date available, last year it was late June.
