We are going to the CP on Sun 12/16 and hoping to stay for Illuminations that night at 9:30. Since this is a very short trip, this would also be our only night to see the Osborne Lights. MGM has evening EMH this night until 11. Would it be possible to head over to MGM after Illuminations to see the lights? Thanks in advance! :santa:

Absolutely! You will have to be FOCUSED on making it,but it can be done. The main thing is you will have to be sure to make it to Disney's Hollywood Studios before 11:00.If you can get in before 11:00 the Osborne Lights should be available for an hour or so as the park empties out before they start "encouraging" Guests to leave. My best advice is to watch IllumiNations from the "English Channel" bridge between France and the United Kingdom.IMMEDIATELY after the finale of IllumiNations walk QUICKLY out the International Gateway to the Friendship Boat dock.If you can get on the first boat leaving ride it to DHS,if not I would suggest going ahead and walking. As stated earlier, your plan will work, but you have to be focused on a plan.:)

I agree. In fact I was going to suggest a very similar strategy to what WEDWDW already posted. You should have no trouble making it. Be sure to position yourself close to the Interntaional Gateway (if you are on the other side of the park for example you will waste time and have to fight crowds moving in the wrong direction). As WEDWDW said, if you can catch a boat quickly, great. If you see no boat then start walking. It really isn't that far.

Thank you both so much for the advice and strategy! I think we're definitely going to try this...I really want to see the lights! One more question...will we be able to get our EMH bracelet on the way into MGM or do we need try to get one earlier? Thanks again!:goodvibes

You do not need to get a bracelet earlier. There are several stations in DHS where you can get a bracelet. There is a location available shortly after entering DHS.If you don't see it just ask the nearest CM to point it out to you.By the way, have you seen the Osborne Lights since they started "dancing"?It is AWESOME!:)

Thanks again! We've actually never seen the lights dancing or otherwise...this is making me extra focused to get to DHS that night! We're cramming as many of the holiday events into 2 1/2 days as possible! :woohoo:

Duh!:) I should have noticed that this is your first Christmas trip.:) The Lights used to stay lit continuously all of the time.Last year was the first year that they made them "dance".They use a series of dimmer switches to make the Lights come on and off in "time" to music. It is kind of hard to explain, but it is AWESOME.They make them "dance" to music from the Trans Siberean Orchestra.I am sure they will still be lit after 11:00 and feel almost certain they will still make them "dance" some after 11:00,but to be sure do your best to be at the Streets of America before 11:00.It is an amazing sight. They also play Christmas music when the Lights are not dancing and they have a "pretend" radio station broadcast describing the scene at times.:) It is really a festive atmosphere-it has even been known to "snow" in Florida during the Lights.;) :)

A picture is worth 1000 words.

A video is over 1000 pictures. ;)

(Sorry that this is just a hand-held shot from my STILL Camera, but its a good example of the Dancing Lights.)

So glad to see this post, we plan to do the same thing!

Thank you everyone for the advice and the video! This definitely seems doable and worth it!! So excited! Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that they light up the castle on non-MVMCP nights! :thumbsup2

We'll be attempting the same thing and this is a great strategy! Thanks!:)

If you do not get on that first boat, just start walking, you might be able to catch a boat at the YC after people get off that will take you the rest of the way to MGM
