We are going to have to cancel our BWV October ressies. I am NOT happy about this but my wife change jobs recently and will be unavailable during this week. Anyway, we are looking to reschedule a trip that will include a split trip between Vero Beach and WDW. We have 2 children ages 3 and 6. They both love going to the beach (my parents have a condo). I know there will be plenty of activities for them including the pool, slide, beach, and scheduled activities at the resort (i assume they have some type of community hall). Who has done this and how many days do you reccommend at Vero? I was considering 3 days at Vero followed by 3 days at OKW. Does this sound to rushed? Is 3 days at Vero long enough to enjoy???? Also, to conserve points we are considering staying in a studio at one resort and a 1-bedroom at the other. My opinion would be to get the 1-bedroom at Vero to enjoy some adult privacy and the studio at WDW since by the end of the day after parks we are all ready to crash anyway. Advise please. Thanks-Brad
ps- We have several dates in mind. I assume you can get in the water from March-October?????

Unless you were counting on the kitchen in the 1 BR, consider getting 2 connecting inn rooms at VB instead of the 1 BR. The points for 2 inn rooms are about the same as the 1 BR, maybe slightly less but you can get a King bed in your room and 2 real beds in the other room for the children. We only stayed at VB once but we stayed in the 2 connecting inn rooms. We found it very nice and relaxing but think 3-4 days would be enough. Many people recommend doing WDW first and use VB to rest and recuperate but we did VB first and found that worked well for us. We were able to relax and get into vacation mode/mindset and then enjoyed the parks all the more when we got to Orlando.

We just came back from 7 days and Disney and 3 days in Vero Beach. Actually, only 2 days in Vero, I couldn't sit on the beach for another day and we went back to Disney for our last night.

Vero Beach is nice if you like sitting around and bugs. Our room was infested with bugs one afternoon and it took two trips to the front desk for them to get rid of them. They infested the front door and freeked my DD out! It was gross. We found dead bugs for 2 days. This was another reason we left.

The beauty of DVC is that we called up and switched back to Disneyworld flawlessly. I only want to vacation in WDW from now on.

We just returned last night from 5 nights at BCV and 3 nights at Vero. We had so much fun. My sis and I would have loved 2 more nights at Vero, but 3 nights worked well and I think what you are planning will be great.

Also, no bugs in our room, just a gecko on the wall when we first checked in.

THAT -- is an exception.
Most folks do NOT have that problem. Vero is a wonderful place and I think your family would enjoy their visit! :)

We've had the good fortune of staying in a Beach Cottage several times now over various seasons and not had a bug problem that we thought was excessive. Of course there are "bugs" -- but it IS sea-side and in Florida -- so SOME 'bugs' are unavoidable. But we've never found it excessive or to such a degree that it influenced our opinions about staying at Vero Beach again! :)

I'm hoping that it was just a fluke. It was a nice resort. Maybe we just got a bad bug day. We'd like to try staying at one of the beach cottages with another family when my daughter is around 10. I think I would enjoy one of those cottages very much. My other gripe with the resort was that you had to rent the chairs for the beach. You think you go to a beach resort, they would supply beach chairs! Is there a good reason for this????

We went to Vero for 4 days over Spring Break and just fell in love. We decided to go back in August with my sis and DH sis. Our DD just had a wonderful time. It is slow paced. So if excitement you want you may not be happy. We were very content to sit at the pool/beach. :sunny:

We went to Walmart and bought a couple of chairs, an umbrella and buckets for the kids. We spent $30 which is about the cost of renting the chairs. Unfortunately we could not bring it all home, hopefully the mousekeepers did!

I was not surprised by the renting of the chairs, we stayed at Wild Dunes in SC last august and the prices of renting chairs/umbrellas was higher than disney. :wave2:

We try to always split between WDW and VB in the summer. It is FLAT OUT lovely! Actually try to spend 5 days at VB if you can.... Huge STRESS melter!

Thanks for all the advise. Now we just have to find the time to go!!! If we enjoy Vero (and I know we will) I would love to rent out a cottage and bring the whole family (grandparents, etc...). The points for staying in the cottage on a Sun-Thurs is VERY reasonable.

I think splitting the stay 3 and 3 is a good choice. Personally, if it were me I would stay in an Ocean View Inn Room at Vero and the 1BR at OKW. That is the only way you can be assured of a nice view at Vero. I was very jealous of my friends who had an Inn room with a nice balcony overlooking the ocean even though we were in a 2 bedroom because ours had mostly a road view. And the 1 & 2br villas at OKW are absolutely breathtakingly beautiful & spacious! Whatever you do, have a wonderful time!
