I cannot believe the rotten luck i am having. I was supposed to fly from Prov. to LA tomorrow then from LA to Maui on Tuesday. My flight into Newark has been cancelled and Continental will not reschedule me for anything until Wed. morning. Since it is more than 24 hours from my scheduled flight from LA, I need to pay to reschedule my flight from LA ($600). Now not only do I lose 2 days in Maui, have to shovel a foot of snow in Providence tomorrow, but it will also cost $600. I have been on the phone with Continental trying to change my flights since last night. I think I will go outside and scream now!!!!!!

OMG!! That's horrible! It wasn't your fault that the flight was cancelled.....
{{hugs}}

I can't believe they are doing that. You had no bearing on why your flight was cancelled. I would be devistated but you can look at it this way, you'll be safe, it isn't any weather to be taking off in. :D

I am so sorry that they are trying to do that to you!!! I know that I have never had to pay for rescheduled flights due to weather. I hope you get it all worked out {{hugs}}

Sorry to hear about your travel problems. It's frustrating when you plan a trip for so long and then something beyond your control happens.

If your flight from LA is a continuation of your flight from Providence----There should be NO rescheduleing fee. If you are flying two different Airlines---then Yes the flight you are going to miss can charge a change feel --unless special arrangements were made when you booked your flight.

As a quick side note----I'm in Hawaii right now. Weather is sunny and warm. If you are able to get to Maui pretty soon you should have great weather.

UGH!!!!!!! What a lousy break. :( Hope you get it resolved, I bet you do. {Hugs} Enjoy Hawaii when you get there, you deserve it.

What is so ironic about this whole fiasco is that the last time we went to Hawaii was for our honeymoon 10 years ago (that is why we are going on this trip). We got married on the day of that freak blizzard in March of 1993 and were two days late getting to Maui for our honeymoon!

If that flight from LA was also with Continental, that is totally outrageous and unacceptable and I'd be making some pretty angry phone calls and writing some angry letters.

If it's with another carrier, I'd still be pretty miffed that it's $600 because of the mistake/problems with another airline. :mad:

I hope you can get something resolved. :( *hugs*

It is with another airline, but when I booked the flight I was told that I could fly stand by for 24 hours with no penalty. I also checked today and was told the same thing. I will fight if I have too. I am just soooo bummed that I might lose 2 days of my trip. Never mind the fact that I will be stuck here in the snow with no food in the house because I was not supposed to be here.

I am going to go to the airport in a few hours when they open and try to fly stand by. If I could get out before noon I think the weather here would be all right. I am trying to get Continental to let us fly on Northwest since the tickets were originally booked with Northwest frequent flyer miles. Northwest has a couple of early flights to Detroit where I think the weather is ok. I forgot to mention that we are flying with our kids ages 7, 5, and 2. I will be having tons of fun. Like the regular flight was not going to be bad enough!!

I really hope you are in Hawaii and not home to post,but if you are, please let us know what you found out.It just doesn't seem fair!

Ouch $600 that hurts.....I hope you get there safe and sound and a bit cheaper.....

Good Luck...

WOW! That's the problem! You jinxed it!!

Sorry to hear of the problem. Hope you get it fixed and enjoy your second honeymoon! We were in Hawaii for 3 weeks last year, and it was very wet because of the lack of trade winds!

I do hope that this works out for you - as well as it can at this point!! :(

Well I'm back in RI, not Hawaii. We went to the airport when it opened this morning (4 am). My husband is a TSA employee and was scheduled to work since we were not supposed to leave until late this afternoon. Since he works at the airport he has a lot of friends with the ticket agents. I think because they knew him they let us bump over to Northwest and try to fly stand by all day. We didn't make it on the first 3 flights but did get seats on the noon flight, however the airport closed down before the noon flight got off. My mother and brother were also going and they made it out on a Southwest flight through Pheonix.

We went to the Continental counter and got confirmed seats on the Wed am flight. I don't think much will go out tomorrow since it is now so bad here and none of the planes can make it in, so Wed is probably the best we could hope for anyway. United did change our tickets to the late Wed afternoon flight without a penalty and both airlines did let us change the return date by one night. I will lose a night and an afternoon but can stay an extra day. Being in person at the airport with my husband who personally knows some of these people really helped.

I just hope we will find a place to stay for the extra night. At this point I don't care if I sleep in the minivan. I just want to be anywhere besides home.

Our bags did go through to Los Angeles of course so I don't know if we will ever see those again. My mother is going to try to get them and check them through on her flights. That would be great because that means I won't have to deal with them on Wed. Who knows I may be shopping for a new summer wardrobe at the Maui Walmart! I don't care!!!!!!! Just get me and my family and our bathing suits on a plane out of the arctic here and I will be happy.

We were at the airport from about 3:30 am until noon this morning. When we were leaving my husband went to get the car and before I could stop her my 2 yo DD pulled the fire alarm. (My reflexes were a litttle slow at this point!). The alarm went off in the whole airport and the fire dept had to come in to reset it. I don't think I could be anymore embarassed. That just capped off a very excitiing morning. The roads were horrrendous on the way back home. I really thought we were going to get stuck.

Anyway sorry this is so long and thanks for your good wishes, hopefully with a little luck I will be Hawaii bound on Wed.

Bless your heart! How very frustrating your situation must be.

Good luck with your luggage and finding a place to stay. At least Maui will be warmer than RI.

I'm sure you have used up all your bad luck for this trip,and will have everything go smoothly from now on! Hope you have a wonderful trip and that your luggage will be waiting for you in Hawaii. Be sure to give us the details when you get back.
