Cancelled our ADRs at 'Ohana...

We were there in '09 and it was good. I really wanted to do it again. But, of every restaurant on site, this is the only one that has a "terrible" reputation for long waits. I just can't chance it. At the end of the day, my family is going to be hot and tired and they're gonna want to sit down to eat within a relatively short period of time. Rumor has it that the wait can be *really* long, regardles of what time your ADR is. I can't get my dh to wait more than 15 or 20 minutes to be seated at ANY restaurant, so I don't want to go into a situation where the odds are overwhelming that it'll probably be longer than that.

I cancelled those ADRs in favor of Whispering Canyon. I just hope I did the right thing.

While I want to try O'hana sometime, I did the same and canceled our Christmas reservation last month. I also was concerned about the long waits to get in.
Whispering Canyon is fun! :goodvibes

My husband is the same way and he works at a restaraunt. Ohana did have a longer than average wait the last time we were there. I think you saved yourself some complaining.

We've only ever done the first seating for dinner for this very reason. We will be doing it again for our next trip!!!

We always do it on our arrival day as it's either a day we don't do the parks at all or we do Animal Kingdom so we're not exhausted and can wait. We've had to wait at least 20 minutes each time (30 one time). Once the line to go to the podium was about 15 people deep. I think part of the reason they get so behind is people see it as a place to sit and graze so some tables don't come up as fast as they should. We plan to go in Oct on our first night after we do AK and I'll probably make an ADR for around 7, but we'll get there by 6:30 so we can check in before our ADR and not be accused of being "late" lol.

Thanks, y'all! I wish they'd figure out how to make their ADRs a little more timely, but whatever. At the end of a long and very fun day, the last thing I want to do is ruin it by having to put up with dh being irritated. It'll be bad enough when we go to CRT and likely have to wait, but at least his irritation will be tempered by the kids' excitement of that particular restaurant. It's not like dh will get nasty or say something, but when ds starts getting antsy and complaining, dh will get very irritated with ME for not having chosen better.

I made our ADR for Ohana on our AK day as well for 6:35. I am planning on being out of AK around 3 depending on if we want to watch the parade. We will get there around 6:00.

I will be making adrs next month and have crossed Ohana off my list. I did this for the reasons already mentioned , but also since they took the potatoes away there is now no side dish my son likes.
