cancellation question

I don't quite understand what happens w/ my points if I have to cancellation in the 30 day window w/ a Feb. use year?

What are the chances of them putting my points back to where they were if I use the "one time" grace, instead of a holding account? How do I go about doing this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you cancel 30 days or less from arrival, your points are placed in the holding account. That means that they may only be used to make a reservation 60 days or less prior to arrival. (That's a problem because availability is often very limited when you get that close to arrival). If the holding account points are not used by the end of the use year, they expire. You are not allowed to bank holding account points.

As far as I know, the "one time, secret exemption" only applies to banking problems. Don't recall that anyone has gotten an exception that way for a late cancellation. Wouldn't hurt to explain your circumstances and ask, though.

You generally hear about these exceptions related to resale contracts with unbanked current points nearing expiration. This is generally regarded as a good will gesture for the new owners. Not sure how they track these exceptions or if it might apply in your case.
