It looks like we will have to cancel our trip this Sept :sad1: . I booked it way back when online at Disney UK and it's with free dining and the ultimate tickets . Being a package, am I right that we are going to loose our 100 pound deposit? We would love to go at the end of Nov. instead but right now that to isn't for certain either.

I don't know why but I thought that if we canceled well in advance there wouldn't be a charge...

Most places as soon as you book a package then cancellation is the deposit if more than 8 weeks before travel.

Claire ;)

I've done a search here on the Dis and the posts that I've read say that I should get it all back, but then on the back of the contract it states...

if the period before the departure date is More than 56 days...the charge is the deposit only :sad2: .

We cancelled a holiday as dw was pregnant with dd and we lost the deposit and it appears to be the usual wherever we've booked.

You will lose your deposit, but try and change the date. You maybe able to claim back through your insurance company, but you'll need to ask you travel agent.

I know when we booked with Airtours a few years back and my sister was'nt able to travel due to doctors advice, we were able to get our full fare back bar about 40 pounds through the insurance company.

Travel agents will take the deposit as they count this as prebooking all the items on your booking.

Thank you to all who replied :) . I felt dumb asking last night when I should really know the answer but when I did a search first it was just confusing because of all the posts where people booking packages in the US got refunds. I had booked the package myself online through the UK Disney site.

I called the UK number yesterday evening but was rerouted to the US because my CM said the UK offices were closed then. I explained my situation and how I'd hoped we wouldn't lose the money and she was very sweet. She put me on hold then contacted guest relations. Eventually the CM came back and said they were considering it but that I would get a reply by email.

I thought surely no way but I just got an e mail from a company called worldpay who said I was refunded in full!! I've checked my account and the money has not gone in, and I don't know what will happen as I believe I paid with a debt card which number has been changed but I will sort that out eventually.

I don't know why I was refunded and I feel bad for you Davscotcar that you wern't. It isn't fair especially given your circumstances! All I know is that to make my case I said that I was far from the 56 day mark but also that it is darn confusing nowadays with the internet that the US will refund but not Europe, and that it wasn't fair at all!
