Canadians Traveling to the USA in 2025

As other have hinted at, I do believe the title of this thread states the topic that should be covered here. Those heading to the US in 2025 not whether or not it is correct to do so (that is a personal decision). It is a place where people can share their experiences so that others who are also travelling can be informed about what to expect and tips to ensure successful travel experiences.

Exactly this. I remember earlier in this thread when we were sharing experiences with cars parked at hotels enroute to Florida and whether there was any vandalism because of Ontario or Quebec plates. None was reported and this was reassuring to many.

Everyone has their own personal motives for travel, when they travel and where. No one here knows another person's health concerns or concerns for future travel because of health pressures or the future demands of close family members' health worries. Anyone who has cared long term for a parent, spouse or a child understands the implications and why that can be the overriding factor for one last loved travel experience. As the PP stated so well . . . travel to the US is a personal decision. I give everyone here a big benefit of the doubt and try to understand that private family pressures can play a big role in travel choices. If we don't have those concerns, we're lucky.

We just did a cruise on the Treasure followed by a week at Disney World. No issues at all. Very enjoyable trip and glad we went!

Our vacation plans changed. We were looking at using a 4-night cruise certificate to drive to Miami, take a 4-night cruise there, and then drive down the Florida Keys and back home. A longer trip to explore on our way down and back. This would have been in September.

But with the uncertainty a couple of months ago I ended up asking if we could take the cruise from Canada instead. We paid the difference to upgrade to a 7 night Alaska cruise out of Vancouver. With Princess offering on on-par rates then and only needing to pay the 3 night difference, we ended up with a cheap balcony cruise departing August 5th. We're flying to Vancouver 2 nights before and staying 2 nights afterwards. I wish we could have driven there and back (or at least, fly there and rent-a-car-drive back) but that would have meant taking a 3 week vacation which wasn't in the cards right now.

Vancouver and an Alaska cruise is on our trip wish list so we're happy with that! Another time we'll do the drive to or from Vancouver, as well as the road trip to the Florida Keys. We have a lot of U.S. locations we'd like to visit and I'm sure we'll be able to at some point.

Cruise booked and paid. Flights booked and paid. 2 nights pre-cruise booked. I need to book the 2 nights post-cruise and book a car rental for 1 day still.

Well, it’s done. My DD and I have booked a week in Dec 2025 at our favourite offsite resort. We are only planning (always subject to change, of course!) s single park day, Epcot for the Festival of the Holidays. Otherwise, we will enjoy visits to DS and Disney Resorts for the holiday decorations and some nice meals.

Every day is a gift, and I have a delightful daughter who is willing to support my infirmities so that we can enjoy time together in one of our favourite places. Covid restrictions hammered home to both of us that we cannot take such opportunities for granted.

As follow up we went to cedar point this weekend which was great btw. No issue at border we have nexus. Windsweker at cedar point was like a live action soarin really amazing. Disney is crazy expensive but cedar point is great family holiday in the summer and affordable even from Canada.

Stats Canada has released statistics for May, giving the year over year drop (or rise) in Canadians visiting the USA. The drop in tourism which started in January continues:

I suspect the numbers are close to bottoming out, and we may start to see an uptick in the summer. On the other hand, That Man can't seem to help himself, and he continues to make comments about Canada becoming the 51st state, and he recently raised tariffs on Canadian aluminium and steel to 50%, actions which Canadians are not likely to find endearing.

EDIT: as the article points out, Canadians travelling overseas rose 9.8% in May, so Canadians are still travelling, we just aren't travelling to the US.

Now that the provinces are starting to.lift some of their retaliatory actions I suspect that the fatigue is setting in and thi gs are going to start going back to where they were in the bt (before trump) times.

Clear as can be. I will not buy US products if I can avoid it. Booze? We have great craft breweries and wineries right here. I did buy some celery a while back, but my lettuce is 100% Ontario grown.

I don't see BC letting up on the US booze ban. Premier Eby is pi$$ed and is just finishing a big trade trip to Asia.

I don't think that's true where I live. All of the US products that don't have alternatives are off the shelves in grocery stores, and the ones that don't...like canned ravioli...just aren't selling even on sale. People are still canceling trips to the US and booking for the Caribbean and Mexico. there were some hold outs but now it's pretty obvious we let our economy slip and we're working to get it back

My cousin owns a B&B in PEI. she has people there from Midwest US on a bike trip, and when they leave another bunch arrives. She isn't usually so busy until July but apparently a lot of accommodations are seeing new visitors. mostly not from Canada
