Canadians Traveling to the USA in 2025

I was also one of those people still travelling to Disney during Covid when everyone was saying to stay home (I had to 14 day quarantine twice)…so I guess it’s a pattern for me. But only to Disney. Not elsewhere in the US. Beyond my April trip though anything I book will be more last minute or be refundable just in case. I’m hesitant to book anything too far in advance.
I know what you mean. I see the Canadian ticket deal, but then I end up booking a package cause I don’t want to be tied down with anything at the moment.

It is easy for some of all y'all to say. Not for others. A simple search of my phone would easily tell them I am a member of the Alphabet Mafia. Overzealous agent after that information plus Disney plus solo male and I'm labeled a pedo and banned for life. Or if your skin is a bit darker, or if your birthplace is 'inconvenient'. So yes, you will be judged for being a complacent and a collaborator.
huh? I don't understand your post.

Nah. No point really. I'll just vote with my wallet and no need to post anymore.

yes I am and this has become a thread defaming the US and the person who leads it
You know, if this thread offends you there is an easy way to fix that. Scroll on. Don't feel you need to stay. I say this because it's not going to get any easier to read and I would not want you to take it personally. We all have an opinion and the original questions was asked of Canadians. There has been no respect for Canadians coming out of your White House so don't expect any back.

These days, we are having more problems at home than in the US for still going to Disney.

Some coworkers are plain mad at us. Our Disney specialized TA is getting a lot of hostile comments, threats even. We get that people are mad about the situation, we are too. But we won't just put our lives on halt for 4 years.

We figured that Disney is far from a pro-you-know-who company and decided to still spend some of our precious vacation dollars with them because of their strong values. We still believe in them!

Our TA is reliving COVID-like business trauma with a lot of cancellations. He won't pressure anyone to go but we are again supporting his Canadian business by spending our Disney dollars thru him. The situation is really not his fault and it's important we help his business get thru it all.

Our TA is also quite sad about many folks missing their dream and all that Disney Magic. Some people won't be in good enough shape or may not even be there in 4 years. Others won't have the same opportunity for many reasons like children/granchildren not of age...Also very unfortunate that not knowing the Disney difference, the majority of cancellations are coming from first-time goers.

So guys, buy Canadian and please don't give up on your dreams!
You make a really good point - if you're traveling anyway, use a Canadian travel agent to support our economy as much as possible :)

I had the thought of a few things that could be done while on Disney property, too. For example, booking table service meals at Le Cellier or getting snacks at the Canada pavilion to support Canadian cast members with my tips and spending. Booking flights with a Canadian owned and operated airline. Buying pre-trip clothing or ears from a Canadian artist on Etsy. Shopping at Lululemon while at Disney Springs.

Lots of options!

the Controversial Board
This. I've never been to this part of the Boards. I've been on the Boards about 10 years or so and never checked this part out. I read the references to it earlier in the thread, so was curious. This morning I searched around then went to Community Board, then Controversial Topics, and discovered there's an entrance gate or warning. Fair enough. It's like a bull in field sign. Or garbage dump bears warning. I thought about it, and realized it's not worth raising my blood pressure to jump in. I've had great interactions with so many people on the Boards over the years, from all countries especially Americans, that I'd prefer to keep my good memories and experiences just that. Good.

We all have our limits as to how far to go to support Canada in these difficult times. It is a very personal decision.

It is very hard not to travel. We own 2 timeshare properties in Orlando and still have to pay the Maintenance Fees (almost C$4,000 after exchange) and we aren't using them for the foreseeable future. That is a sacrifice I am willing to make for another 3 years with the expectation that we will return to our home away soon enough.

Hardest for me right now is struggling with what to do about my new truck (and future transport to WDW). I ordered it back in November and the salesman assured me that almost all of this model gets built in Oshawa for our market. I just found out that one feature I ordered (the colour, er, color) is not produced in Canada, so I will be getting a US built truck (if GM ever builds it; 4+ months waiting with no sign). Do I refuse delivery? But then all the other trucks in this class are built in the US anyway, so my options are limited.

It's agonizing to make these decisions and I respect everyone who struggles with it. I respect the painstaking decision making. Do what feels right for you, do your part as you see fit.

I find that it is also a good idea to do some research on why a large group of people is taking such decisive actions that are costing them thousands upon thousands of dollars and keeping them from doing things that they love. There are many information sources out there explaining exactly what is going on. I suggest never limiting oneself to one source of news since every news source has its own bias.

Exactly. I read TONS of news articles from varying types of media. The key is finding one that allows ALL viewpoints in order to hear from all parties.

I totally understand that many people are unhappy. I get it. But…I’m not a fan of those who judge or try to pressure others regarding their own personal decisions. I can understand that some don’t want to travel to Disney or elsewhere US given US govt actions. I also support those who want to continue to travel to US for whatever their reasons.

Because I could not afford to flush thousands of dollars down the toilet. Our trip was planned and paid for last year long before any of this started.

You do what’s best for you and I’ll do what’s best for me. Please don’t judge my choices and I won’t judge yours.
I’m here now, and back in June. Everyone has a choice, and not everyone attributes 100% blame on the States. Happy travels!

This week's Free Dining offer restricted to Disney Visa cardmembers (ie only Americans) is interesting given the political climate. As most Canadians know, we can't get that card and therefore aren't eligible for that free dining offer. I suspect Free Dining will drop next week for those without the card so it's likely (and hopefully) an academic point. No doubt Disney needed to shore up the perks of their affinity Visa card as cardmembers have criticized Disney over the years for not doing enough to make the card worthwhile. But lengthening the exclusive US only Free Dining offer from the usual past 24 or 48 hours exclusive window to a full week or more is startling when you're excluded from the offer. Given the anticipated dramatic drop of Canadian visitors to the US parks this year and likely next year as well, is Disney just reading the room and digging deeper into its domestic pool? We weren't a big travel demographic for Disney parks to begin with so it's important not to make a big deal of it. Disney's promotions are probably hashed out at least a half year in advance so issues now wouldn't have even been on the radar. It's likely just a coincidence but it's jarring given what's happened over the past few months.

So we just got home from our Disneyland trip late last night. We drove down from Surrey BC to Seattle and flew to LA. We used a small crossing on the way down because of short lines (very long lines at the two larger crossings near us). Border guard asked us only a couple of questions. Had zero negative interactions with anyone in the US. Our car (a Tesla with BC plates) was not targeted in any way. We stayed the night at an airport hotel and our car was parked there for the week. Coming home late last night we crossed at one of the larger border crossings around 11:45pm. Two cars in front of us. We were asked the normal questions (how long had we been gone, where did we go, did we buy anything). So for us, while things are not normal, all our interactions were no different.

Excellent. Thanks for this! Travelling from the same city via YVR to LAX next month. Feeling more confident that we likely won't encounter an issue.

Daughter has a music trip to NYC end of April. I cant find firm info, do they fingerprint now? Any other concerns about us travel?.

Latest news is no fingerprint for Cdns and no fee. If arrive by air, exempt from the additional registration as already part of pre-flight security check. Like so many measures, can change at will.

That is the only thing I did not understand about that being a massive issue. Canada and the United States use almost exclusively back end and behind the scenes tracking of entry and exit. When traveling by air, the airlines are required to provide information to the relevant agencies on either side of the security divide. The airline knows who is getting 4S'd before check-in opens. They know you are coming before you step foot in an airport. It is one of the reasons customs has slowly become less and less painful over the years.
