Well I have to say that I am not a morning person but for some reason I was up at 5:00 am counting the hours until it was time to go.
We did get to MK around 8:45 and got to see the welcome ceremony and thought it was cute and well done. We weren't prepared that when the chosen family threw the pixie dust, that meant it was time for everyone to stampede into MK. Boy were we caught off guard. I had taken DS1 out of his stoller so that he could see, not knowing that's when they offically open. Just our luck we were standing in the middle of everyone's way. I told grandma and DH to take our other 2 DS hands for dear life thinking they would be swept up in the mass.
When we walked toward the castle and I really had a minute for this to sink in, that after 20 years of waiting I was finally here, I started crying of happiness. DH and my mom walked away embarrassed while DS's asked if mommy was all right.
I have to tell you that our very first ride was Dumbo. It was our very first experience at WDW and ruined by a rude CM working Dumbo. We were the first in line for the next round and given our green tag (which I never read about). Anyway ds1, being a baby and all was getting impatient so I gave him the green tag to distract him. He threw it far away and I couldn't get it. Knowing I would need to give it to the CM, I called her over and explained what happened. She went to go get those "robot arm type things" and fished it out for me. While she gave it back to me she said in a super rude tone "Don't give it to your baby again!"
What? This can't be all the nice Disney attitude I have read so much about. But we wouldn't let it ruin our day.
MK had no crowds whatsover. We didn't use Fastpass once, even though I was excited to try it for the first time.
MK was open 9-6 because of MNSSHP and despite that we still got to do the following:
Peter Pan-3x
Mickey's Philharmagic (loved it)
Winnie the Pooh 5x
Indy Speedway (this is what I liked least at MK. It was loud and all that pollution started making me sick)
Buzz Lightyear 4x
Carrousel of Progress
Transit Authority 2x
Barnstormer 7x
WDW Railroad - 1 trip
Space Mountain 3x
Splash Mountain - too many times to count
BTMR-too many times to count
POTC-2x (we were the only ones on the ride)
Magic Carpets of Aladdin 2x
Jungle Cruise
We had the time of our lives and my mom, who only came "to keep us company" is now hooked for life. She was so facinated by it all, she is already asking if she can come with us again.
The only bad thing that happened was that my DS5 got lost at MK. My kids have never been lost before. I thought it would never happen to me but this is how it happened.
I was standing outside Splash mountain waiting for DH and DS7 and DS5 .I knew they would be a while because they wanted to go on it over and over again. Well me and my mom were talking and all of a sudden I see my DS5 walking past me holding a CM's hand. I stop them and tell her he is my son and what happened. She told me she has been with him for about 30 minutes trying to locate us and no one reported a child missing. She was on her way to the front gate.
Well it turns out when DH went to Splash Mountain, DS5 chickened out and DH says he swore he saw him run back to me and thought he was with me the whole time. I thought he was with DH the whole time. Really scary. The CM more than made up for it though. She entertained DS5 so much that he didn't even want to go back with us
. She even encouraged him to try Splash Mountain and he did. It is now his favourite ride of all time.
All in all a magical day. I never wanted it to end.
