Canadian DISer's Weight Loss Get In Shape Thread

Ok folks, I weighed in this morning and really didn't like what the scale said, so that'll give me more motovation to stick with it!!

Monday WI start weight: 148lbs

Keep up all the great work ladies!!:dance3:

Okay folks, I had an ok so-so day....I ate lots of fruit & veggies...fruit salad for breakfast, veggie soup for lunch with a grilled cheese sandwich (on LC bread, FF cheese slice with 3 t margerine-yes I measure!!:confused3 ) and for dinner I had a chicken sandwich on yummy homemade bread (Low fat bread..180cal, 1g fat) and brocolli salad and a peach  Then out came the baked lays and dip :confused3 Oh well...I did okay I guess, not too much snacking! I have to drink more water though, I have a wedding to attend on Saturday and my dress shows my little belly...I think I am bloating because of lack of water!!

Oh well tomorrow is a new day!!! :woohoo:

Hey everyone...glad to see so many are doing so well. I haven't checked in for a couple of days. To be perfectly honest, my last few days have stunk. Sorry for the rant....I literally am reading this again, and feel the tears building up....I hope I do better this week. I am just SO disappointed in myself and don't know why I'm so down on myself! Hope everyone is keeping up....Joline

Awww Joline  don't beat yourself up. It's hard to keep it up all the time. Leave the last week behind and start fresh in the morning, no use beating yourself up. I know when I beat myself up I just want to indulge in chocolate to make myself feel better....and than worse:sick: .

Joline...what to say? Tomorrow is another day and sometimes those yucky days do seem to go on forever but you have great supporters here. We've all been where you are at one time or another:hug: It's hard and sometimes nothing anyone says will help but keep at it and you'll get back on track:thumbsup2

Well I weighed in today...up 1.2lbs. I knew I'd be up but it wasn't as much as I thought. Perhaps those good choices earlier in the week had something to do with that:cool1: Today was my Dd(3)'s birthday today:banana: 2 cakes... kid party and family party. As I always say tomorrow is another day.

Congratulations!:cheer2:

Awww, sorry about your DD, hopefully she will heal quickly!

You did pretty well while on vacation. I find that is when it is the hardest to be good about what you eat.

I will weigh-in on Monday. Did not have time to do it today.

Thanks for your support and the well wishes for my daughter:yay: I really appreciate it.:cheer2:

I think PMS has got to be the biggest obstacle for weight loss.

I'm sorry about your DD's wrist. It's amazing how adaptable kids are. I hope she has an easy, speedy recovery.

I agree with you about PMS. I used to gain up to 5 lbs in a bad week and then the day or 2 after my period starts I spend half the day in the bathroom getting rid of all that excess fluid. I really try and make sure I have at least 3 glasses of milk a day, it seems to help reduce the pms symptoms. Thanks for the kind thoughts for my daughter:banana: You're very kind:woohoo:

I am sorry to say that I have not been visiting the DIS boards very often recently and I am just finding this thread now. I have read only a few pages and will take my time reading the rest of the pages.
I have been loosing weight since the first week of June and I have lost 77lbs.:woohoo:
I wanted to share what I have been doing....

I started with a 10 day liquid diet, I did 10 days because I am Morbidly pooh sized. The first three days was full liquids, such a yogurt(light), milk, crystal light, broth (chicken, beef or fish) Tea ( I prefer green tea and if you make it weak you dont need sugar or milk) Oatmeal, low fat soups , sugar free popcicles and sugar free jello. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING...Protein shakes. You need a min of 40 g of protein per day...50 to 70 is better
Then on the 4th day I did clear liquids only for the remainder of the 10 days..so that was tea, broth, Crystal light and protein shakes (mixed with water...not milk)
I lost 35 lbs in those 10 days...sounds like a lot but I weighed 348 lbs...
Then I began eating again I started with Protein water (Stacker2) and gradually added things like milk and soups, and now am eating again but different than I was before.
I Eat protien FIRST at every meal, followed by veggies, then a carb ( fruit) and I usually dont eat the carb. Solid protein is better than liguid protein so things like chicken, fish, beef, cottage cheese, eggs and low fat cheese are good choices.
I NEVER eat anything white....no bread (of any colour), potatoes, rice
I read labels and never eat anything with more than 5 g of fat, or 5 g of sugar. and I try to keep it under 20 g of carbs. (they are hard to get away from) Carbs are bad because they give you a sugar spike and give you the urge to snack. (rice cakes are the perfect example)

I also NEVER drink when I am eating. I wait till at least 60 mins after I eat and stop drinking at least 30 mins before I plan to eat. It pushes the food through too fast and you do not absorb enough nutrients from what you have eaten....therefore you eat more throughout the day. Also liquid takes up room in your stomach, less room for the protien, therefor you dont eat enough.

I have yet to find a protein shake that I enjoy more than a few times, so I have switched to strictly water mixed drinks. I found something at Wal Mart called Good2Go made by Weider. Each serving it individually packaged to be mixed with one bottle of water...kinda like Cristal light singles. Except it wont fit into the bottle so I mix it in a slightly bigger rubbermaid drink bottle. It comes in Lemon Ice tea, pineapple and peach mango and has 20 g of protein per serving I like all three flavours.
I also buy the Stacker 2 protein water...which I also buy at walmart, my fav flavours are sour apple and pink lemonaide. These are also 20 g of protein per bottle. You can also find Stacker 2 at GNC stores but they have 40 g of protein per bottle and are more expensive.
Our bodies can only absorb 20 g of protein at a time so drinking the 40 would be wasting it.
And of course it wouldnt be a diet without water water water.... You should always have a bottle of water in your hand unless its less than 30 mins before or less than 60 mins after a meal. I also drink a lot of green tea, I like the Lipton Mixed berry flavour and the Bigalow Lemon.
So since June 1 I have lost 77 lbs, all my clothes are too big, ( I recently bought new ones) My breasts have deflated and now resemble beaver tails.
But Im Ok with that. We were on vacation last week and it was my idea to hike the trail (very hilly) to the point... we have gone to this same campground every year for 7 years and I couldnt even walk to where the trail started....now I did the whole thing without even getting winded.

OH I have forgotten to mention excersise... To start you need to move for 60 mins. Doesnt matter how fast...go at the pase that works best for you. I choose to walk...I find a route that takes me 60 mins..... ( just walk away from your house for 30 mins then turn around and come back) and when you can do that route in 45 mins.....increase your distance.
I am now swimming laps and doing aquafit..in addition to the morning walk.
You want motivation? when you see results, you want more...thats my motivation, which is why I started with the liquid diet...it gave me results I could see and I was motivated to keep my weight going down.

Well Ive yapped on long enough ......
Ill be keeping up with this thread...
Thanks to the OP for starting it.

Well I am finally back at home from all my travels and am ready to get back to working out. I happy to report that I did not gain any weight while away but on a sadder note I did not loose any. I hate it when the kids go back to school but it will be nice to be able to go back to curves on a daily basis and be able to eat less because no kids to feed during the day.

Down 1.8 this morning, only 0.2 last week. That makes 11.8 lost since I started WW but a total of 23ls since March..oh well slow and steady win the race.

November I was 215, March 205. When we went to Disney October 2005 I was 226lbs so I guess it's progress!!!

Gotta get more exercise in though. I am ashamed to admit it but I am back on the smokes... although keeping myself from smoking too many, just enough to stop all murderous thoughts....LOL

You are truly an inspiration! Thanks for sharing! My program begins Sept 4 when the kids go back to school. I have pneumonia right now so obviously I am taking it easy. I have cut out all pop and only drink club soda or water with lime now. I use protein to curb hunger and make sure everything I put in my mouth is nutrient dense. I have a lot of food allergies and cannot tolerate any form of artificial sweetener so I have started using stevia and have increased my fibre intake.

Have you tried the patch? I used it for three weeks six years ago and haven't smoked a ciggie since!

Years ago tried, nicorette gum, patch, you name it. Ended up quitting on my own, even when I didn't think I wanted to quit. Right now I believe with all I have going on that until that clears, I won't be able to give it a true effort. I won't smoke in Disney so maybe that will give me a kick start as well. I won't smoke there because we will be with the kids all the time and I don't smoke near them or in front of them so....fingers crossed.

Just dont be hard on yourself. You are correct on not taking on too much! You will do it when your ready! Good for you!

Weighed in this morning and I'm down 3 lbs :woohoo:. Dh has dropped 6 lbs this week. He went to see his Dr. last Monday as a follow up to his physical. It turns out he has borderline high cholesterol and high blood pressure. So he has decided to get serious about his health. It makes it easier to loose weight and be healthy with him on the same page. I managed to do my work out four times this week. So now with DH on board it is a competition, he might have won this week but I'll kick his butt next;) .

Hodder it is really hard to make many life changes at once. You should be very proud of the fact that you are not smoking around your children. It will probably be a lot easier for you to quit at WDW since you won't have the opportunity. As for your weight loss your doing great. Slow and steady is the way to win the race. It's been proven that those that make a gradual reduction are much more likely to keep it off. It usually means that you have made lifestyle changes that you can live with.

Hi all. Weighed myself today and I'm down 1.6 lbs:cool1: That's only .4 lbs if you subtract the pms gain so I'm happy it's a net loss. Now I have 3 wks before I have to deal with pms again so on with the program:banana: way to go Reese:cheer2: Nothing like a little healthy competition to inspire you. My Dd(7) starts school Wednesday so it's back to walking her to and from school. That should help kickstart the workouts.

Girls lets all keep up the good work no matter if up down or had a bad week. I have to admit that when I'm in Disney next week I won't be watching anything but show. I did sign up at WW for another 10 weeks. Bought a dress that fits everywhere but shows some lumps in the hips. I said that I was going to hang it in my room for inspiration for next spring when hopefully I go to Dominican with a couple of girls from work. They have rocking bodies so I want at least a soft rock one.......LOL

Well its been a week and my weight stayed the same, which I am okay with :) (considering I went to a wedding and had a few run ins with chips and sweets!!)

I have to admit that when I'm in Disney next week I won't be watching anything but show.

I plan on the farthest thing from my mind being my weight while I'm there. I'm hoping after two weeks of free dining I won't be up too much. Also my DD's will be right in the middle of there cross country training so I'll have to make sure we go for a run a few times a week. I figure that with all the walking and cranky child carrying (wrestling:rolleyes1), I'm hoping to stay even or close to it:) .

When we went free dining 2005 I didn't gain weight so fingers crossed this time.
